Christian Aid NGO Data Manager Jobs in Kenya
Reporting to the M&E Specialist, the Data Manager is responsible for the organization, maintenance and updating of OVC databases and management information systems that includes OLMIS, CPIMS, DATIM, and other database systems at Christian Aid, DCS and LIP level.
The Data Manager will provide overall technical support on database development, organization, maintenance and use; conduct
monthly data collation for the entire CASE-OVC project, verification of results reported, analysis and presentation of findings; build the capacity of CASE-OVC MEAL Officers and other program staff on database set up, management, use and troubleshooting; lead review, training and roll-out of the Child
Protection Management System (CPIMS), as well as support linkage between CPIMS and OVC
Longitudinal Management Information System (OLMIS) use; and strengthen capacity of DCS, and LIPs to effectively collect, store, retrieve, use, and transmit data to inform program decisions.

Monitoring
Ensure CASE-OVC data and information systems comply with USAID requirements, and
Christian Aid policies, procedures, standards, and strategic initiatives.
Participate in the development and standardization of forms and tools to collect relevant disaggregated data on project monitoring indicators, effects, and
Participate in the development of data flow and reporting maps, and templates, to ensure the appropriate information arrives to the right program staff in a timely and efficient manner.
Work with the MEAL team to develop and roll-out a data management calendar
Work closely with the MEAL team to ensure they understand the data requirements, datagathering forms, and report formats.
Work with MEAL team to facilitate accurate data collection, entry, transmission and collation.
Install and maintain OLMIS and CPIMS databases at Christian Aid and LIP level
Provide onsite support for the implementation and updates of CASE-OVC MIS systems used by Christian Aid and LIPs comprising OLMIS, CPIMS and DATIM; this will include but not limited to onsite installation, setup, data entry procedures, and data transmission
Provide support for collation and processing of OLMIS and CPIMS data, reports and other related reports from the LIPs.
Work with CASE-OVC MEAL officers to ensure that LIPs participate in data quality assessments, understand the recommendations for remedial action, and comply with those
Work with CASE-OVC MEAL Officers to update DATIM data for the project
Ensure that CASE-OVC has data storage and back-up systems at both LIP and Christian Aid
level, and ensure that routine back-up is done.
Jointly with MEAL team conduct monitoring and mentorship visits to ensure good use and
management of IMS.
Work closely with other CASE-OVC staff to produce high-quality data and progress reports as per the reporting intervals (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually), with strict adherence to standards and timelines.
Organize regular Data Quality Assessments (DQAs), to make sure that data is accurate, timely, complete, valid and consistent with the source document

Role context
The Data Manager will ensure that systems are in place so that data is readily available to be used as a foundation for programmatic adjustments and evidence-based decision-making. The Data Manager will ensure capacity of CASE-OVC staff
(at both Christian Aid and LIP level) in data management and use is enhanced, support set up of systems to ensure beneficiaries and other stakeholders have opportunity to give to and receive feedback from the project, and support documentation of project learning in line with project learning agenda.

Decision making
Budgetary/savings responsibility This role will support in the annual budgeting for M & E expenditures and in ensuring value for money during expenditure within approved budgets.
Delegated authority for decision making with parametres agreed with M & E Specialist. Responsible for setting, monitoring and delivering the Kenya Program’s M & E KPIs.
The ability to make day-to-day decisions to assist in the M & E Specialist and smooth running of the Nairobi, Regional Offices and partners.

Applied skills/knowledge and expertise
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in biostatistics, information technology, epidemiology, public health, international development, economics or related field; a Master’s degree in M&E would be an added advantage
Knowledge
Five years of relevant professional experience in project-level MEAL, including development of data flow maps, data collection tools, reporting forms, and project databases
Professional Certifications related to setting information management systems
Experience in designing and implementation of mixed method evaluation plans
Thorough familiarity with principles and current approaches to project monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning
Excellent analytic and computer skills; skilled in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access
Experience in using data analysis software, preferably SPSS,STATA, R or Python
Skills in developing project M&E databases desired
Experience working with USAID and PEPFAR OVC partner organizations
Skills and Abilities
Experience in implementing donor-funded projects, especially on data management and
reporting
