Responsibilities
Source new partnership opportunities through analyzing industry trends, the competitive landscape, and key industry players, both at mature and start-up stages
Evaluate and provide insights into growth opportunities with potential or existing strategic partners for Chipper, including financial and strategic factors and business model options
Engage and influence senior level key stakeholders by supporting development of messaging and material for interfacing
Lead all phases of a transaction, ranging from varying deal structures (partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, etc.) including performing diligence procedures, and assisting in drafting partnership agreements
Liaise with finance department in various financial modelling exercises to support the development of each business case and partnership formulation from a financial angle
Provide project management oversight in support of key partnership initiatives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform and guide partnership strategies based on evolving business needs
Support or lead, depending on significance, ad hoc analysis, special projects, modelling or reporting enhancements
Generate new leads and develop a pipeline of leads through use of existing networks, attending events, and liaising with industry experts and stakeholders
Identify, secure, and nurture partnerships with leading financial services providers including banks, MFIs, donors, and governments to drive financial inclusion across Africa
Contribute to thought leadership and building brand awareness through blogs, PR, and case studies
Reporting on KPIs to the leadership team, Board, and investors
Requirements
5+ years of experience with a high performing track record or experience in a
partnerships development role in the financial technology/ financial services sector
Experience in identifying, evaluating, and analyzing new strategic business opportunities
High level of business/commercial acumen; MBA qualification preferable
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to distil complex issues and develop detailed analysis
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and manage a network of key stakeholder relationships
Analytical mind and ability to extract business insights from data, and develop financial models
Deep domain knowledge of the financial technology sector, including key trends, players, player dynamics, challenges, solutions, and partnership development strategies
Ability to build and nurture new relationships and close deals with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly institutional clients/ executives
Existing relationships with decision makers at regional organizations delivering financial technology services or otherwise innovating in the financial technology space
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, resource-constrained, early stage work environment
Fluency in English required; fluency in Swahili preferred
Ability to live and work in Nairobi, Kenya, with frequent travel up to 50% of the work time
