1. Childline Kenya Senior Counsellor Position in Nairobi
Childline Kenya works in partnership with the Government to STOP child abuse and provide a safe environment for all children. We offer the only nationwide helpline service dedicated to children that runs 24 hours toll free, and is accessible by simply dialing 116.
The helpline provides counselling, rescue, safe shelter, medical care and legal support. We also actively educate the public on child safety, working with key government agencies and child protection partners in all the 47 counties. Childline is a lifeline for children in distress!
Childline Kenya is looking to recruit a Senior Counsellor for its Nairobi Office. S/he will be responsible for coordinating telephone counseling and referral services for Childline Kenya and to lead the team of counselors in providing quality psychosocial support to children, care givers and other callers.
The Senior Counselor will manage counsellors and volunteer counseling (VC) team members, be responsible for all line management duties i.e. appraisals of VC and rota management. The incumbent will support the Programme Coordinator Child Helpline to manage cases reported to the centre.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesManage the Helpline
Ensure Call Centre operational strategies through needs assessments, performance reviews, capacity planning, quality assurance, and customer-service standards.
Maintain and improve Call Centre operations by monitoring system performance; identifying and reporting challenges met; preparing and completing action plans; completing operations audits and analyses; process improvement and quality assurance system.
Maintains professional and operational knowledge
Entrench Risk management principles and practices in Call Centre operations.
Supervise Helpline Staff
Maintain Helpline staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
Assign Staff through Maintenance of a Monthly Roster, that allows rotation
Ensure staff performance by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Provide Helpline communication systems by identifying needs; evaluating options; maintaining equipment; approving invoices.
Helpline Data Base Management
Overlooking Database Design
Training and managing Helpline Staff
Monitoring Database Efficiency
Designing and preparing Reports for Management
Developing protocols for Data Processing
Training colleagues in how to input and extract data
Maintain Helpline Efficiency
Plan and implement office systems, layout and equipment procurement
Maintain and replenish inventory
Check stock to determine inventory levels
Skills and Competencies
3 Years’ Experience and a Masters’ degree or Bachelors’ Degree in Social Sciences from a reputable institution.
People Management Skills and Ability to build effective relations with diverse people.
Excellent networking skills and ability to work with a wide range of partners
Good time management and ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and report writing skills
Knowledge and interest of development issues, particularly in relation to children.
Experience in Project management and community education
Good knowledge of computer applications
Strong Team Leader

2. Childline Kenya Finance and Admin Manager Position in Nairobi
Childline seeks to recruit Finance and Administration Manager stationed in Nairobi. The post is accountable for the quality of CLK’S support services to include Finance, HR, Administration, and ICT.
The post is
also responsible for the disbursement of donor and CLK funds ensuring strict compliance with all financial, budgetary procedures, HR, IT and other operating procedures agreed with the Board; it will also be responsible for compliance to donor/CLK/Board procurement and logistics policy.
The holder will be a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and will take part in Board Meetings and Committees as required.
Key responsibilities
Review, check and analyse CLK’s finance reports and be prepared to explain variances and highlights to the ED and to Board
Manage the performance and development of the officers reporting to him/her.
Ensure that CLK operates a compliant procurement system
Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and ensure all reconciling items are investigated and resolved promptly
Ensure all other balance sheet accounts are reconciled either monthly or quarterly, depending on materiality
Ensure compliance with the Kenya Revenue Authority tax regime
Monitor the safe keeping of accountable documents and CLK cash at hand.
Budget monitoring to avoid overspend or under spend; red-flag potential problems before they get out of hand.
Issue routine, periodic, or final accounts to various users
Review, develop, & enforce an effective internal control system for CLK
Carry out regular internal audits and special audits as required by the ED.
Monitor and review daily operations re.: administration, logistics, & ICT.
Supervise day to day procurement at CLK, including ensuring compliance with agreed procurement policy
Supervise day to day Human Resources at CLK, including ensuring compliance with agreed procurement policy
In conjunction with the ED, agree Terms of Reference, timetables and reporting lines with external auditors
In conjunction with the ED, ensure all legal contracts signed by CLK have been checked for legal validity and ensure that all contracts are written in CLK’s best interests
As a member of CLK’s Senior Management Team, play an active role in the direction and day to day management of the organisation
Monitor management and use of CLK assets and resources
Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
A qualified accountant
Strong background in system development and enforcement.
Experience in managing EU, USAID, DANIDA, and other major statutory portfolios.
Budgeting, budgetary control, and audit skills
Procurement and administration management
Experience of managing IT and HR functions
Experience in use of a recognized accounting software package
IT literate; must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Good awareness of employer’s legal requirement under Kenyan law
Experience of presenting financial information at a senior level to non-accountants
Hands on experience in playing a leading role in organisational change, including the development of support services
