Job Summary

The task of this assignment is a Baseline survey for Community Based Child Protection Mechanisms (CBCPM). Child protection programming focuses on gross violation of children’s rights, such as trafficking, forced labor, recruitment and use by armed forces/groups, as well as harmful cultural practices.

While these protection-specific efforts are critical, most of the violence against children is experienced within family and community setting including schools and is not addressed by such programming. It is a ‘hidden’ crisis that warrants far greater attention, resources, and response.

Responsibilities and Tasks of Enumerators

You will be closely supervised and report to the Snr Field Coordinator. Your core task will be to assist the team in conducting a successful survey.

Conduct data collection using the provided data collection tool

  • Conduct a household survey on selected households within the assigned areas

  • Document all the findings in the provided data collection tools.

  • Participate in team review meetings at the beginning/end of each day’s assignment

  • Compiling and sorting the filled data collection tools as directed by the supervisor.

    Reporting

  • Present the data to the supervisor at the end of each day.

  • Report to the supervisor before and after the day’s work for further direction.

  • Ensure submission of all the completed questionnaires for the day to the supervisor.

    Expected Outputs

    Fill in duly completed questionnaires from the field and submit them on KOBO Server on daily basis. Notes from the field interviews

    Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Must have Diploma or Degree in Economics. Sociology, Statistics, ICT, Public Health, Community Development, Project Management or related social studies.

  • Demonstrated prior experience in surveys
    with INGOs in the area is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated prior experience in electronic data collection methodologies.

  • Good communication skills and experience in participatory methodology

  • Innovative, motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on strict deadlines.

  • Willing to accomplish each day’s work with the supervisor by the end of each day, which may involve long working hours.

  • Good report-writing skills

  • Good facilitation skills

  • Understanding of the local dialect is desirable.

  • Knowledgeable of the geographical locations

    Duration of service

    8 enumerators will be engaged for 5 days (4 days of data collection and 1 day training)

    Payments

    The allowance payment will be made to the enumerators’ MPESA account upon satisfactory completion of the task as will be assigned by the supervisor.
