Chemonics Chief of party Jobs in Uganda
Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated five-year, $22- to $24-million USAID Integrated Community Agriculture and Nutrition activity in Uganda. The project aims to sustainably enhance the resilience of vulnerable households and communities by increasing economic opportunities for poor households, improving nutrition with a focus on women and children, and strengthening community and local governance. The chief of party will provide overall leadership to ensure achievement of programmatic results and timely completion of deliverables. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:Provide overall technical and managerial leadership of the project
Serve as the project’s primary liaison with USAID
Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with Ugandan government officials at the national and county levels
Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
Lead coordination with USAID, key stakeholders, and other implementing partners
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in international development, livestock, agriculture, economics, or related field; or equivalent work experience
Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible international work experience implementing multisector development programs
Minimum five years of management experience preferred, including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working on multifaceted international development programs
Chief of party experience on a USAID project preferred
Experience in Uganda or a similar context preferred
Strong familiarity with resilience programming preferred
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in writing and speaking English required

Chemonics Finance, compliance, and administration director Jobs in Uganda
Responsibilities Include:
Oversee human resources management, procurement, and grants administration activities
Provide guidance and management support to keep procurement and project activities on track, within budget, and in compliance with the contract; Chemonics’ policies and procedures; and federal, USAID, and local regulations
Review and update standards and procedures to ensure the project is effective and efficient in preventing, detecting, identifying, and correcting any noncompliance with applicable rules and regulations
Work closely with the chief of party, project team, and Chemonics’ home office on financial management, operations, and compliance issues
Qualifications:
Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, accounting, or auditing
Experience with financial analysis, accounting, or auditing for an international organization or accounting firm
Familiarity with U.S. government accounting and experience in financial management of USAID-funded programs
Experience managing complex grants and subcontract funds
Demonstrated experience building capacity of local staff in procurement processes and fostering knowledge transfer of USAID systems
Experience supporting development projects in Africa preferred
Field office experience required
Excellent written and oral communications skills in English required

Responsibilities include:
Provide overall leadership, management, and technical direction to strengthen health institutions, increase availability and improve management of key health systems resources, and strengthen community systems for quality health services in Uganda
Serve as the project’s primary liaison to USAID, implementing partners, the government of Uganda, key government and non-government institutions and actors, and project stakeholders and counterparts in the public and private sectors
Supervise senior management team, technical and administrative staff, and subcontracting organizations
Oversee implementation of project activities and liaise with project teams to ensure technical coordination
Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
Ensure all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Identify issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner and direct appropriate program adjustments
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in public health, medicine, international development, or a related advanced degree
Minimum 10 years of professional experience managing large, complex health projects in developing countries, with at least eight years of experience working on health governance, decentralization, health-care financing, or institutional strengthening programs in Uganda; track record of progressive responsibility implementing programs of similar scale, scope, and complexity of UHSS
Demonstrated experience strengthening health systems and service delivery in Uganda
USAID experience preferred
Strong ability to collaborate and build partnerships with host-country governments, U.S. government agencies, donor agencies, and international organizations
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in English (both speaking and writing) required; fluency in Ugandan languages preferred
