Chemonics seeks an ITN (Insecticide Treated Nets) Access Advisor for the anticipated USAID-funded Malaria Vector Control Activity (MVCA). This activity seeks to identify and implement proven, evidence-based vector control approaches in Tanzania, in support of reducing the overall malaria burden and moving Tanzania closer to malaria elimination.
The ITN Access Advisor will play a crucial role in providing strategic direction for the project technical assistance and will lead the supply planning and distribution technical assistance to support the ongoing and effective access to ITNs in project priority areas, in collaboration with key project stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of public health principles including in malaria and vector control issues, and experience providing working with various stakeholders including health authorities and communities.
Responsibilities:Lead demand planning, distribution and access monitoring of ITNs by systematically determining national vector control requirements, estimating quantities, and coordinating fulfilment to support the distribution and continuous availability of insecticide-treated nets to prevent vector-borne diseases such as malaria.
Work closely with NMCP, ZAMEP, and other stakeholders and ensure accurate quantification of needs, appropriate cadence and channels to maintain ITN access for communities.
Oversee the implementation and technical assistance for ITN distribution through various channels including continuous distribution and targeted mass replacement campaigns.
Represent the project in meetings and consultations with health authorities, partners, stakeholders as necessary.
Work closely with communities to understand and respond to demand for insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) to prevent malaria and other vector-borne diseases.
Organize and conduct community outreach activities, including meetings, workshops, and door-to-door campaigns as necessary.
Oversee and coordinate the distribution of ITNs to target populations, ensuring equitable access and coverage.
Collaborate with NMCP, ZAMEP, and health authorities and stakeholders, and community leaders to develop access and distribution plans and strategies.
Monitor ITN distribution activities to ensure adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
Identify training needs and organize
and conduct training activities by developing training materials, and technical documents as necessary.
Collect and analyze data on ITN quantification and distribution to assess availability and identify areas for improvement. Oversee accuracy of project technical databases.
Maintain accurate records of ITN distribution activities, including distribution logs, inventory records, and beneficiary lists.
Prepare regular reports on ITN quantification and distribution activities, including requirements, needs assessments, distribution metrics, challenges encountered, and lessons learned. Contribute to preparation of annual workplans and technical design activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief of Party-Tech of his/her designee.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health, or a related field. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in public health, community health activities, supply chain management and commodity quantification and access or a related field, with a focus on malaria prevention or vector control programs.
Strong understanding of public health principles and practices, particularly related to malaria prevention and control.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government counterparts and communities.
Experience in community mobilization, engagement, and outreach.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Willingness to travel to rural and remote areas as needed.
Fluency in English required, Swahili desirable, and local languages is highly desirable.
