Job DetailsChemonics International Inc., Contractor for USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) ensures uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in support of USG-funded public health initiatives around the world.
The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), and Population and Reproductive Health.
In supporting USG-funded global health activities, PSM develops and manages a wide array of services for health commodity procurement and related systems strengthening technical assistance encompassing different elements of a comprehensive supply chain. The project seeks to recruit for the following position of:
Position Title: Laboratory Logistics Specialist (1 position)
Reporting: Distribution Centre Logistics Advisor
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Work within the management structure of Medical Stores Limited to manage logistics for laboratory supplies;
• Provide technical assistance and advice for PSM work in laboratory commodities logistics in the national supply chain management;
• Support the receipt of all the laboratory commodities to ensure accurate product identification and avoid multiple codes creation in the warehouse management system;
• Facilitate timely entry of laboratory commodities being receipted into WMS;
• Facilitate with the processing of commodities being receipted within MSL, from Quality Control status to the available status where products can be picked;
• Work with MSL warehousing team to conduct cycle counts for laboratory commodities on the WMS to ensure up to date data is maintained on the system. Produce monthly reports which will be shared within MSL and across the project;
• Conduct visual inspection of lab commodities to ensure receipt of quality lab products, flagging when commodities arrive in unusable condition;
• Scrutinize all program procured laboratory products to identify those that are short dated (3 to 0 months of shelf-life remaining) and share the data with your supervisor to inform decision making;
• Work with MSL warehouse team to ensure cold chain products temperatures are monitored, and maintain data loggers both for stock in storage and in transit;
• Provide technical assistance in developing guidelines or SOPs
to manage the appropriate methods of packing cold chain products scheduled for transportation;
• Investigate all complaints from customers that are related to issuance of lab products, and provide a written report on the same identifying the root cause of the complaint and corrective actions to be taken (CAPA development);
• Reconcile product receipts and issues for lab products on a monthly basis highlighting discrepancies and potential causes for the non-alignment of figures;
• Work with MSL Warehouse Manager to assess the quality of reports (orders) from facilities and based on that provide support to facilities where necessary;
• Work with the project FASP to update the laboratory products in the pipeline database to ensure uninterrupted supply chain;
• Participate in forecasting and quantification for laboratory commodities technical working group Carry out assigned additional responsibilities in consultation with supervisor;
• Respond to lab queries from Ministry of Health and Lab stakeholders;
• Carry out additional responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time in consultation with the supervisor or his/her designee.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
• Biomedical Sciences degree with 3–5 years’ work experience or Laboratory Technology Diploma with 6-10 years of work experience
• Minimum of at least 3 years of work experience in a Level III hospital laboratory or equivalent;
• Experience in the HIV test kits and other laboratory logistics systems;
• Experience working with HIV/AIDS related diagnosis instruments such as FACS count, Calibur, Sysmex Poch, ABX Micros, ABX Pentra, Cobas Integra, Humaster, Cobas C111, ABX Pentra 200, Cobas Taqman 48 and Sysmex XS, equipment;
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & other programs;
• Experience in updating and managing databases;
• Ability to work in team environment and good organization skills;
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
• Written and spoken proficiency in English required.
