Chemonics Chief of Party Jobs in Kenya
Chief of partyChemonics seeks a chief of party for the live USAID-funded East Africa Regional Intergovernmental Organization (RIGO) System Strengthening Activity. The objective of this five-year, $8 to 12 million activity is to increase the human and institutional capacity of the RIGO Secretariats — Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), East African Community (EAC), and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) — and selected RIGO sub-institutions in tangible ways.
The activity will make demonstrable, evidence-based improvements to the human and institutional capacity of each RIGO, significantly and measurably enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of each RIGO's organizational performance. The chief of party will provide overall management and direction to the activity and supervise all key personnel. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in organizational capacity development, monitoring and evaluation, international development, social studies, business administration, economics, or another closely related field; an additional five years of relevant technical experience may
be considered in lieu of a master's degree
Minimum of 10 years of relevant, senior-level professional experience managing the implementation of organizational capacity development programs in the areas described above
Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience managing and supervising a team working on organizational capacity development activities
Minimum of five years of experience in sub-Saharan Africa; experience in East Africa, especially in Kenya, Djibouti, Tanzania, or Zambia, preferred
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with intergovernmental or government representatives and other stakeholders, particularly at the regional level
Experience managing an activity of similar size and complexity
Demonstrated experience addressing development issues facing the greater East Africa region, including regional integration, trade, governance, environment, and health issues; expertise in providing organizational strengthening assistance to complex NGOs and government organizations
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in English
