Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for the anticipated USAID Supply Chain Technical Assistance Activity in Uganda.
The project valued at $10 million to $25 million aims to ensure the accountability and responsiveness of Uganda’s health supply chain and improve access to quality and affordable medicine for all Ugandans.
The deputy chief of party, based in Kampala, will provide strategic guidance and ensure overall management of operational and supply chain activities in coordination with the chief of party. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include: Work with the chief of party to provide management, leadership, oversight, and technical direction to strengthen health supply chain systems, increase availability and affordability of medical commodities for all Ugandans, and effectively integrate national and subnational supply chain systems for quality health services in Uganda
Support the chief of party and technical team in day-to-day project implementation, management, client engagement, and coordination between partners, government counterparts, and other implementation partners
Provide expertise in knowledge management and strengthen the institutionalization of the program’s approach with partners
Provide technical oversight, supervision, and strategic guidance for the project’s systems integration intervention, ensuring that systems integration team staffing and performance align with goals and plans to achieve project results
Assist
the chief of party to periodically evaluate project progress against the work plan and budget, identify issues and risks related to timely implementation, and undertake appropriate interventions to meet work plan objectives and client requests
Serve as the acting chief of party in the absence of the chief of party
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in supply chain management, public health, pharmacy, or a related field
Minimum 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility in managing large comprehensive and complex health programs in Uganda or East and Southern Africa
Demonstrated management skills, including experience in direct supervision of professional staff
Strong knowledge of and experience in managing and programming large, comprehensive, and complex health programs, including specific knowledge and experience in health systems integration
Record of advancing public health outcomes in environments similar to Uganda
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in English required
