Chemonics Chief of Party Jobs in Uganda
Chemonics seeks a Chief of Party for the USAID Uganda Social and Behavior Change for Transformation activity (SBC4T) based in Kampala, Uganda. The purpose of SBC4T is to improve the ability of individuals, households, and communities to adopt priority behaviors through Social and Behavior Change (SBC), which will in turn transform households, communities, and systems for improved health and development outcomes. The Chief of Party (COP) will be responsible for the overall management and implementation of the project and report directly to the designated USAID Agreement Officer’s Representative (AOR). S/he will supervise project implementation and ensure that the project meets stated goals and reporting requirements. Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership, management and technical direction to strengthen social and behavior change activities and improve health outcomes through increased adoption of priority behaviors at every level in Uganda
Serves as primary liaison to USAID, implementing partners, the government of Uganda, key government and non-government institutions and actors, and project stakeholders and counterparts in the public and private sectors
Supervise senior management team, technical and administrative staff, and subcontracting organizations
Responsible for overall and direct implementation of project activities and liaises with project teams to ensure technical integration, coordination, and managing for results
Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision with USAID and stakeholders
Oversees project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Identifies issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner and appropriate program adjustments
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
Requirements
A Master’s degree
or higher in public health, communications/behavior change, social sciences, international development, or a related advanced degree
At least 15 years of professional experience managing large, complex health projects in developing countries, with at least 10 years working on social and behavior change programs in Uganda
Demonstrated experience managing large scale social and behavior change activities in Uganda
Proven record of leadership in design and management of SBC programs and experience leading projects across a range of intervention types and/or health areas
Demonstrated experience applying SBC approaches within and outside of the health sector; experience with human centered design (HCD) and behavioral economics preferred
Track record of progressive responsibility, including at least ten years providing senior-level leadership (e.g., Chief of Party, Project Director, Deputy Director) to programs of similar scale, scope and complexity
Previous experience reporting to USAID or other USG-funded programs
Strong ability to collaborate and build partnerships with host country governments, U.S. government agencies, donor agencies, and international organizations
Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills in English
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
