Essential requirementsDegree in business and economics studies, international relations, sociology, development studies or other related fields.
At least 5 years of working experience in Ethiopia and at least 3 years of working experience in the Borena zone.
Experience in the administration of digital data collection and analysis tools (including platform administration, questionnaire creation, field data collection, and data analysis), through KoBo Toolbox or similar platforms.
Excellent reporting skills.
Solid diplomatic skills: the ability to manage a variety of internal and external relationships, especially with partners.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Computer skills including advanced Excel and Word.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work cooperatively.
Self-motivated, able to take the initiative, resilient, and able to work independently.
Cross-cultural awareness, sensitivity, and patience.
Very flexible and with a positive attitude.
Excellent knowledge of Oromo, Amharic and English (written and spoken) is essential.
Optional requirements:
Previous experience in working on projects financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
Highly result-oriented with the ability to manage workload and stress.
Work Context
CESVI is a secular and independent humanitarian organization, founded in Bergamo, Italy in 1985. CESVI works in 23 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, supporting the most vulnerable populations in the promotion of human rights, in the achievement of their aspirations, for sustainable development and in response to the most severe emergencies.
CESVI is registered in Ethiopia since 2018 and has been working in refugee camps in Tigray and with pastoralist communities in Oromia. In 2022, CESVI started operations in Amhara (COVID-19 prevention measures and income-generating activities for people with disabilities in conflict-affected areas), Harar and Dire Dawa (promoting socio-economic integration of people on the move and potential migrants, with a focus on people with disabilities, along the Eastern Ethiopian migration route) and Beninshangul-Gumuz (in the Bambasi refugee camp).
In May 2023, CESVI will start the project “Humanitarian / Development / Peace Nexus nelle comunità agropastorali sfollate e residenti nel Borena - Oromia (HUDEPE Borena)” - AID 12470, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
The following responsibilities are not exhaustive. They aim to provide a clear sense of the nature and scope of jobs at this grade:
Implementation of HR Policy and Code of Conduct
Ensuring all new employees receive the HR Policy/Code of Conduct training as part of their induction;
Ensuring compliance with
CESVI HR Policy and Code of Conduct within his/her area of responsibility;
Follow up and address HR issues appropriately.
Implementation of Safeguarding policies –Adult at Risk/Child Safeguarding/PSEA
Ensuring compliance with CESVI Safeguarding Policies and full implementation of Safeguarding measures within his/her area of responsibility throughout the project’s activities;
Preliminary assessment of potential safeguarding risks and periodical review;
Development of project complaints and feedback mechanisms (PCFM) in accordance with CESVI PCFM Guidelines;
Development of an adequate tool for communicating with children/adults at risk and communities on safeguarding risks and safeguarding concerns reporting mechanisms;
Organization of adequate capacity building, training, mentoring and advice to project staff, partners, volunteers and other associates.
Representation
Represent CESVI in a cluster or working group meetings at the regional state level;
Represent CESVI in appropriate humanitarian fora at a local level with government authorities, UN organization, NGOs, private sector, and donor agencies;
Represent CESVI in relevant coordination platforms (Consortium meetings and events, Alliance2015’s meetings and events, etc).
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Country Director.
The main duty station will be Yabello with frequent travel to the field (Dhas and Dubluk). Travels will represent at least 50% of the monthly activities.
New activities and tasks that may be necessary or useful for the proper and timely implementation of the project tasks may be defined jointly by CESVI and the “CFM and Safeguarding Expert”.
The collaboration will start in May 2023.
