Job Functions

The functions of Manager, Water & Sanitation Planning & Design will entail:

Identification of water and sanitation projects;

Carry out detailed designs;

Prepare Tender Documents;

Participate in the implementation of Resettlement Action Plans leading to

Land acquisition and compensation;

Carryout survey for the project and prepare profiles and other drawings

Prepare the costs estimates for projects;

Prepare the detailed design reports;

Implement policies and programs on water and sanitation project designs;

Ensure safe custody of all information on projects;

Verify and authorize technical reports and designs and estimates drawings;

Update the General Manager Infrastructure Research, Planning & Design on work progress;

Liaise with stake holders on project requirements and other relevant information; towards enhancing smooth operation of the department;

Maintain operational linkages with other department/sections of the Agency;

Manage human, financial and material resources assigned to the division; and implement the Divisions’ work plan;

Participate in departmental and committee meetings as appropriate.

Develop and manage the division budget;

Set and achieve performance target for the division;

Plan and hold stakeholder Consultations and review Water and Sanitation Master Plans

for the Agency’s area of Jurisdiction; and

Coordinate and supervise construction of all water/sanitation projects.

Persons Qualifications

The following are the recognized qualifications for the purpose of this Career Guidelines;

Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Water/Structural/Electro Mechanical Engineering, orequivalent from a recognized institution.

Master’s Degree in a relevant course

Must have at least Ten (10) year’s relevant work experience.

Knowledge in Computer Aided Designs.

Membership to Institution of Engineers of Kenya;

Registered with Engineers Board of Kenya;

Professional Development in a relevant field.

Leadership course from a recognized institution.

Proficiency in the relevant computer applications
