Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Supervision and team management: Provide individual and group clinical supervision to local physiotherapist and rehabilitation assistants that includes case discussions, live supervision, co-run sessions, coaching and mentoring and supervision of supervisor, with emphasis on self-care components. Assist in developing supervision systems. Strengthen interdisciplinary clinical practices and protocols. Model assessment and treatment interventions, lead case consultations, conduct observations and debriefings, and review documentation. Meet regularly with individual physiotherapist and as a team to provide training and supervision to further clinical development, monitor progress and caseloads, provide staff support and promote self-care.

  • Clinical Program Management: Manage performance of supervisees and provide regular feedback both through formal and informal assessment. Manage day-to-day operations of the physiotherapy department activities, including managing the physiotherapy team that provides services across CVT Centers in Tigray. Track and ensure program objectives are met. Promote collaboration between disciplines of physiotherapy, counselling, and social work.

  • Clinical Training: Design and carry out training programs for the physiotherapy department and wider interdisciplinary team. Continually assess learning needs of physiotherapists, develop and modify individual professional development plans, and adapt training and coaching accordingly. Adapt training style, content, and frequency to meet both individual and team needs. Work as an interdisciplinary team to assess, provide and follow up on topics related to case management, interdisciplinary work, and related topics. Participate in hiring and orientation for new national physiotherapists.

  • Clinical Program Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E): Collaborate closely with CVT and partner staff to fulfill the project’s monitoring and evaluation commitments. Prepare and submit regular reports documenting clinical and training activities, including training and workshop sessions, that focus on progress achieved toward program objectives. Provide input and feedback for grant reports and proposals.

  • Staff Support: Assess the staff support needs of CVT and project partners’ teams serving survivors of torture and gross human rights violations. Develop and deliver training to address these needs.

  • Program Development and Evaluation: Participate in the design of and implementation of new programs as well as program evaluation.

  • Community Collaboration and Capacity-Building: Assess skill sets, systems and methods of physiotherapy service delivery at partner centers. Provide training and coordination with other organizations to better address the needs of
    torture and war survivors. Carry out need assessments in local communities to determine appropriate physiotherapy interventions for children and adults who have been tortured and/or traumatized by war. Identify potential partners, target populations, appropriate program intervention models and program sites.

    Qualifications:

    Required Education, Experience, Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations

  • Masters’ degree or equivalent degree in physiotherapy or related field.

  • At least 5 years of experience providing physiotherapy to children, adults, and families and individual and group physiotherapy.

  • Licensure or certification as a physiotherapist

  • Extensive experience working as a physiotherapist with refugee, displaced, or asylum-seeking populations.

  • Experience providing physiotherapy to survivors of torture.

  • Experience providing physiotherapy to survivors of conflict-related sexual violence.

  • Experience in trauma and/or managing clients with mental health conditions.

  • Experience using a biopsychosocial approach.

  • Experience providing supervision and training to physiotherapists or equivalent positions.

  • Experience working with diverse cultural groups.

    Preferred Education, Experience, Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations

  • Master’s or equivalent advanced degree in physiotherapy or related field.

  • Work experience in chronic pain programs.

  • 7 years of experience providing physiotherapy to children, adults, and families and individual and group physiotherapy

  • Required: Cultural sensitivity awareness in working with diverse staff and client populations.

  • Required: Understanding of and experience developing curriculum and providing training for physiotherapy professionals using interactive methodologies. Experience providing training and sensitization on the effects of trauma and war.

  • Required: Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s interdisciplinary approach in trauma rehabilitation service delivery.

  • Required: Understanding of and experience implementing culturally appropriate physiotherapy interventions, including individual, group, and community-based approaches for people who have suffered torture and war trauma.

  • Required: Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s interdisciplinary approach in trauma rehabilitation service delivery.
