Job DescriptionBackgroundThe Centre for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa) is a World Bank supported Africa centre of excellence for higher education and research at the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Centre aims to improve access to health care through novel medical discoveries (medicines, vaccines, diagnostics, care delivery mechanisms) supported by clinical trials.
Health system strengthening in sub-Saharan Africa (ASSET) is a research project within the CDT-Africa, Addis Ababa University.
The overall aim of ASSET is to develop, implement and evaluate effective health system strengthening interventions to support the translation of clinical evidence into delivery of integrated continuing care at scale across healthcare platforms.
ASSET is a collaborative undertaking between CDT-Africa/Addis Ababa University, King’s College London (UK), University of Cape Town (South Africa) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), with funding from UK National Institute of Health Research.
The successful applicant will join the ASSET research project.
Fellowship details:
Scope: The postdoctoral fellowship will specifically be
focused on equipping health workers to deliver person-centered care.
The fellow will be involved in designing a study and intervention, implementation, evaluation and write-up of the findings. The fellow is expected to attract additional funding during the fellowship period.
Employment term: 18 months
Job RequirementsQualification PhD in public health, demography, sociology, social work or other health or social science related field of study from a reputable university;
At least two publications in a reputable journal with the fellow as first author;
Previous experience in mixed (qualitative and quantitative) methods study;
Experience of field research;
Evidence of potential to apply for new grants; and
An excellent level of written and spoken English.
Able to team up and communicate well with project staff and study participants
Able to demonstrate effective organization and coordination skills, initiative and commitment.
