Position: Legal Officer

Reporting To: General Manager

Work Station: Ukunda, Kwale County

Essentials of the Job

Advise on civil matters that should be directed to external counsel

Advise on statutory compliances.

Monitor compliance with Financing Agreements

Draft and/or review legal letters, contracts and agreements and monitor legal obligations under agreements to ensure compliance, as requested

Submit monthly work reports to the General Manager

Cause to be maintained, a database of the status of all court matters involving the Company.

Assist in the formulation, implementation and/or amendment of Company policies.

Attend special committee meetings and offer advice as required

To monitor changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment, and advise the Bank on the impact of such changes

Liaise with the Health & Safety Department in managing Insurance Claims

Job Qualifications and Experience:

Be in possession of a Bachelors of Law Degree (LLB)

Diploma in Law (KSL) and Admission as an

Advocate with a current practicing Certificate

Certificate of Admission to the

Roll of

Advocates of the High Court of Kenya

Must have 3-4 years continuous post bar work experience in a busy legal firm or corporate institution; experience in a Legal department in the Manufacturing Industry will be an added advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Commercial awareness

Excellent interpersonal communication at all levels (verbal and written).

Problem solving and analytical skills.

Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Ability to cope with high levels of responsibility and with confidential matters.

Ability to work well within the team.

A high level of professionalism which is required on the job at all times.

Computer Literacy.
