CBK Deputy Manager - Financial Inclusion and Innovations, Financial Jobs in Kenya
Job PurposeThe role holder is responsible for Coordinating and participating in the Financial Inclusion Surveys implementation processes; Coordinating financial inclusion analysis covering; Access, Usage, Quality and Impact/Welfare; Coordinating the assessment, analysis and monitoring the emerging financial innovations developments including Digital Financial Services and Financial Technologies and products and Identifying suitable tools for financial inclusion data services, financial inclusion measurement and analysis, reports and dissemination.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnical and Operational ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the establishment and management of a Financial Inclusion database.
Coordinate and participate in the compilation and dissemination of Financial Inclusion indicators including reporting to both internal and external stakeholders’ e.g. IMF FAS and AFI.
Coordinate timely contribution to and preparation, publication and dissemination of Bank reports as appropriate.
Take the lead in the development of National Financial Inclusion Strategy including Financial Education.
Coordinate and participate in enhancement of financial inclusion data collection, instrument design and measurement covering the Access, Usage, Quality and Impact/Welfare dimensions.
Identifying suitable tools for financial inclusion data services, financial inclusion measurement and analysis, and dissemination.
Provide thought leadership in the area of Financial Innovations.
Undertake and coordinate Financial Inclusion analysis and dissemination.
Support and participate in the Financial Innovations team to deliver their results.
Contribute to research on economic and financial issues, focusing on Financial Inclusion, innovations and Financial Services consumer protection.
Participate in national, regional and international collaborative initiatives.
Provide effective leadership to the Financial Inclusion Surveys and Analysis team, effectively collaborate with staff from other Sections and Divisions within the Department, and support the Manager, Head of Financial Inclusion and Innovations.
Provide and oversee technical support to MPC and Board as required.
Undertake coaching, mentoring, capacity building and supervisory roles of junior staff including performance measurement.
Coordinate projects/initiatives targeting financial sector development and innovations as appropriate in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities
Contribute to the performance of other functions in the Bank and to the overall
achievement of the Bank’s strategic objectives.
Support capacity building initiatives at national, regional and international levels.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Financial Economics, Econometrics or Statistics from a recognized University.
A Master’s Degree in Economics, Financial Economics, Econometrics or Statistics from a reputable University.
Proficient in the use of statistical software including Excel, PASW, STATA, EViews, R, ArcGIS, Tableau Public, etc.
PhD Degree in Economics, Financial Economics, Econometrics, Statistics or related fields from a recognized University is an added advantage.
Work Experience
Six (6) years post-graduate experience with at least three (3) years at Senior Business Analyst level.
Technical Competencies
Sound understanding of economic and financial issues, including policy, regulatory and supervisory practices.
Excellent analytical skills, preferably related to economic and financial sector issues.
Exceptional writing, communication and presentation skills, including ability to write and develop memos, proposals, concept papers, position papers, reports, and relevant publications, as well as to effectively deliver presentations.
Strong project management and planning skills, including the ability to manage a small team, and to develop and implement work plans.
Ability to design, review and come up with survey instruments
Behavioural/ General Competencies
Strong inter-personal skills, including the ability to build alliances and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to balance and prioritise multiple competing responsibilities in order to ensure effective completion of deliverables in a timely manner.
