The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) is a chartered private international

tradition of the Catholic Church. CUEA has six Faculties: Theology, Education, Law, Arts
and Social Sciences, Business and Science.

Two institutes: Canon Law and Regional
Integration and Development and the Centre for Social Justice and Ethics.
We wish to recruit dynamic, qualified and result-oriented person to fill the following
position:

3. Dean, Faculty of Law (1) - ACFL/CUEA/01

Reporting: Reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor/Academic Affairs.

Job Description:
1. Offer academic leadership to the faculty hence promoting quality research, teaching
and community service programmes in the faculty;
2. Oversee/supervise all functions of the faculty including formulating and reviewing all
programmes;
3. Monitor and evaluate strategic and development plans, realistically and timely
4. Coordinate sta and students recruitment in the faculty;
5. Organize and chair Faculty Academic and Examination board meetings;
6. Promote unity, justice and peace in the faculty;
7. Represent the Faculty in the University Management Board, Senate and other
Committees;
8. Oversee budget development and implementation as the Chief Accounting Ocer in
the Faculty;
9. Supervise and appraise the Heads of Departments, lecturers and administrative sta
within the Faculty;
10. Be a link between the faculty and various professionals, other faculties, alumni
directorate and institutions;
11. Promote a conducive working environment in the faculty including spiritual and
social welfare;
12. Present students for graduation;
13. Oversee timely processing of trimester examinations as the Chief Examination
Officer of the faculty;
14. Lead the faculty in resource mobilization to ensure availability of essential resources
to support faculty programmes;
15. Promote professional development of all staff;
16. Ensure effective implementation of performance management system in the
faculty;
17. Promote University’s Mission, Vision and Core Values.
18. Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor;

Minimum Qualifications, Skills And Competencies:

Should be a PhD holder or equivalent;

At the level of Senior lecturer and above

Taught for at least seven years at University level;

Evidence of administration experience;

Evidence of academic leadership;

Should have excellent team leadership skills;

Proficiency in computer packages;

Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills;

Should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to work under minimum supervision;

Must be able to meet deadlines.
