Database DesignerBackgroundCatholic Relief Service (CRS) is implementing a USAID Tittle II program name Resilience and Food Security (RFSP) in South Sudan. The program goal is to Improve food security for conflict-affected households in Jonglei State by September 2018. RFSP is an integrated multisectoral program with interventions in disaster risk reduction (DRR), agriculture, livestock, fisheries, nutrition, WASH and social cohesion.
The program seeks the services of an experienced database developer to design an Access database to provide real-time data for tracking RFSP’s indicators.
Purpose: The purpose of the database is to provide real-time data on the project progress in achieving its set targets. The database will provide information on the program’s achievement.
Work to be accomplished:Detail the design of database and database enhancements for the RFSP indicators;
Build,populate,test and demonstrate database prototypes in conjunction with prototyping activities;
Design the database interface for report generation and enhance management information system (MIS) for program activities;
Design a system to enable RFSP to comply with donor requirements to count unique beneficiaries without double counting;
Assess prototype results and develop database implementation and migration plans.
Design database dashboards for generation of program sector data
and standard reports to enhance the monitoring system and track program implementation progress;
Traind the newly recruited RFSP MIS officer(s) on data management, updating database and generating reports
Train RFSP field staff on database updating and report generation;
Rollout database in the RFSP operational counties;
Deliverables:
· A functional database with dashboards for daily program data management and report generation;
· Train staff and rollout database to counties;
· Data maintenance plan.
Duration of the assignment
The assignment is expected to take 20 working days from the date of signing the contract
Qualifications and experience required
· Post graduate level qualification in IT or related area;
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in database development & maintenance ;
· Experience of database development for USAID funded programs;
· High-level communication and training skills
