CRS is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) supporting relief and development work in over 100 countries around the world. CRS opened operations in Kenya in 1965. For over 50 years, we have worked throughout the country to implement programs in agriculture, health, microfinance, water, sanitation, emergency relief and peacebuilding. CRS has built deep relationships with the Government of Kenya and the Catholic Church through ongoing collaboration and support. CRS' projects currently include agriculture, health, services for orphans and vulnerable children microfinance, emergency response, and HIV care and treatment.

CRS will be submitting a proposal in response to the 2019 USAID Food for Peace (FFP) Development Food Security Activity (DFSA) Request for Applications (RFA). CRS Kenya will serve as the prime on the application and will develop the proposal in consortium with other international non-governmental organizations, local implementing partners and international/national research institutions.
The proposed program will involve a multi-sectoral response to addressing food insecurity and malnutrition in Kenya. The estimated timeframe for this program is 2019-2024.
Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to design, manage, strengthen, and provide strategic direction to the

S/he will work across CRS and consortium staff to build capacity of all project staff in gender sensitive programming. S/he will contribute to the Country Program's (CP) efforts toward quality design and implementation of gender initiatives to 'promote the right relationships' among targeted 'families and communities'.
The Gender Advisor will take primary responsibility to advocate for greater attention to gender perspectives, by providing the necessary technical support and leadership to gender mainstreaming throughout CRS' programs and operations.
The Gender Advisor will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the integration of gender across all activities, particularly during times of emergency, and assessments required for learning and adaptive management to address the changing and unique needs of men, women, boys and girls.
