Catholic Medical Mission Board Field Physician Volunteers Opportunities in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Examine patients or order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis
  • Prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury
  • Monitor patients’ conditions and progress, and reevaluate treatment as necessary
  • Provide primary care as needed
  • Provide guidance and assistance to medical assistants and other staff
  • Plan, implement or administer health programs in hospitals or communities for prevention and treatment of injuries or illnesses
  • Perform routine medical administrative duties (medical notes, review laboratory results, address telephone encounters and correct billing claims) in efficient and well-organized manner
  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine
  • Current license to practice medicine
  • Completion of an approved Graduate Medical Education internship in relevant specialty
  • Knowledge and practice of professional and ethical standards of health care delivery
  • Familiarity and interest in global health issues, especially maternal and child health issues
  • Familiarity and interest in public and community health, as well as preventative medicine
  • Capacity to administer treatment to patients while working with them in a sympathetic and tactful manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally while navigating cultural and language barriers
  • Ability to be flexible and prioritize projects and tasks effectively; self-starter; takes initiative

    Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years old
  • Master of Public Health degree (or related field).
  • Community Health Worker Certification preferred.
  • Experience working with or knowledge of USG-supported cooperating agencies such as USAID and CDC, and international counterpart organizations useful.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and prioritize projects and tasks effectively; self-starter; takes initiative.
  • Problem solver, able to identify needs, and develop solutions.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office tools.
  • SPSS/Stata or other M&E software experience beneficial.
  • Knowledge of professional and ethical standard of health care delivery and practice.
  • Familiarity and interested in global health issues, especially maternal and child health issues.
  • Willingness to endure resource-limited working conditions and evening/weekend hours.
  • Proficiency in English; strong communication skills.
  • Spanish fluency required in Peru.
  • French or Creole required for Haiti

    Responsibilities

  • Develop and support implementation of supply chain management systems.
  • Facilitate training and development of supply chain teams at Facility partners for effective performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the supply chain and advice on remedial measures.
  • Ensure proper chain supply management, reporting, and administration of projects by local partners.
  • Collect, review, and disseminate reports on technical assistance activities in a timely manner.
  • Advise program management on supply chain related issues.
  • Prepare periodic reports on supply chain for decision making

    Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years old
  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, business, industrial engineering or supply chain management
  • Ideally 5 years of experience in medical supply chain management
  • Experience in supply chain management related to public health programs, pharmaceutical management and HIV & AIDS.
  • Knowledge of professional and ethical standard of health care delivery and practice
  • Communication, management, leadership, negotiation, and troubleshooting skills
  • Report writing and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity and interest in global health
    issues, especially maternal and child health issues
  • Willingness to endure resource-limited working conditions and evening/weekend hours
  • Ability to travel extensively in the field.
  • Proficiency in English; strong communication skills
  • French or Creole required for Haiti

    Catholic Medical Mission Board Volunteer Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH) Specialist Opportunities in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Develop tailored sanitation and hygiene strategies and marketing approaches to improve demand and supply for improved sanitation and hygiene products and services based on a regional context.
  • Ensure regional level WASH activities are performed, implemented and expanded with consistent approaches and quality, in accordance with national and global policies and best practices.
  • Ensure that effective engagement is maintained with communities and with local government partners, to ensure responsive and sustainable programming.
  • Review technical documents and other deliverables to ensure alignment with overall project strategy.
  • Develop or review relevant guidelines, materials, trainings, job aids and tools to ensure the technical strategies are reflected accurately.
  • Advise on and monitor technical quality of deliverables associated with sustained water and sanitation services and adoption of key hygiene behaviors.
  • Advise partners on all technical aspects of WASH activities implementation, ensuring a unified and effective approach to achieving project milestones.
  • Identify and collate evidence base of promising practices and support dissemination workshops to improve existing practices and introduce new practices and/or ideas among partners and key stakeholders
  • Provides technical assistance to develop and implement communication strategies and materials, through all phases from formative research, through design, media and materials production, community mobilization and evaluation.
  • Participate in relevant technical working groups and forums at the national, regional and global level.
  • Volunteer should be comfortable with performing a range of tasks outside of their SOW, when needed
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor and/or CMMB staff

    Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years old
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Hydrology or Environmental, Civil, Water Resources, Irrigation, Sanitary or Mechanical Engineering, Public Health or a related field associated with water supply, sanitation and hygiene behavior change.
  • Preference for experience in:
  • One year of experience in health care environment or community involvement, in developing countries
  • Implementing community water system facility development, including multiple water use services
  • Implementing Community Led Total Sanitation and hygiene programming and training staff
  • Behavior change materials development
  • Sanitation marketing
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships and collaborate with local community members
  • Demonstrated strong technical programming skills.
  • Knowledge of professional and ethical standard of public health practice
  • Ability and willingness to provide guidance to staff members
  • Familiarity and interested in global health issues, especially maternal and child health issues
  • Willingness to endure resource-limited working conditions and evening/weekend hours
  • Proficiency in English; strong communication skills
  • Spanish fluency required for Peru
  • Haitian Kreyol or French required for Haiti
