Community Development Facilitator - 2 (two) (100%) (short term assignment - 5 months)

CARITAS Switzerland (CaCH) has been working in Ethiopia for more than 45 years. Currently CaCH cooperates with four partners in Ethiopia.

CACH has successfully been registered as an International Non-Government Organization in Ethiopia and has therefore become operational at project implementation level. CACH’s main working fields are Climate, Income, Migration as well as Humanitarian Aid Responses.

Summary of Duties

The Community Development Facilitator (CDF) will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating the overall field implementation activities. The CDF will work under the direction and guidance of the Project Manager (PM).

The CDF will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating the overall project activities at Woreda level). The post holder will work in close coordination and alignments with Partners and Government stakeholders.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Facilitate and coordinate overall project implementation at Woreda level:

BA in Rural Development. Agriculture science, Animal Science, National Resource Management

Work with the project team, partners and government counterparts to achieve the project outputs/outcomes at his/her specific cluster.

Ensure adequate consultation and participation of Woreda and village/community level stakeholders ensuring active participation of women and youth.

Facilitate the beneficiaries’ registration and verification.

Facilitate the inputs distributions.

Conduct other duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager.

Ensure conducive working environment and enabling team spirit in the field.

Other related activities:

Liaise with various community stakeholders and mobilize them to ensure full involvement of community leaders, community representatives, and

local government representatives in the overall implementation and improvement of project activities.

Programme approach:

Take account of gender, Do-No-Harm, environment and other important cross-cutting concerns in programme design, implementation, and reporting; carry out activities in a way that reflects the needs of specific groups and individual’s e.g., elderly people, women, children and people with disabilities.

Duty stations will be Moyale (with frequent field visits to project sites Moyale and Miyo woredas) and Dire (with frequent field visits to project sites in Dubluk and Dire woredas).


Job Requirements

Qualification

The ideal candidate represents the majority of the below mentioned areas;

Experience in Emergency projects and activities WASH, Agriculture (livestock) and Cash Transfer is desirable in Borena.

Knowledge of the intervention area and project implementation.

Training on community facilitation/ Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach.

Organizing communities, participatory approach, and problem-solving skills.

Based at Kebele level and daily monitor the project intervention.

Possession of motorbike driving licence is an asset.

Good command of English, both, in writing and spoken is mandatory; a good knowledge of Oromiffa and of local dialects of the location is a strong asset.

Possession of self-drive; able to work with minimal supervision.
