CARE International in Kenya is looking for highly motivated individuals to fill the two climate services positions below.
The Project Manager will have expertise and networks for developing innovative climate services for resilient development in the Greater Horn of Africa region, and will be experienced in management and social development processes. S/he will be responsible for providing overall project management and technical support to CARE’s deliverables under the project.
The manager will develop strong relationships and work closely with a consortium of partners, in particular, will be embedded in the ICPAC offices for up to 40% time. The incumbent will work with the assigned CARE international staff who will provide strategic direction and support to CARE’s role in the project.

The successful candidate will support the development of ICPAC’s technical capacity for improved co-production and delivery of user-centred climate services.
The position will provide outreach to national met services and will strengthen regional actors capacity to use climate information for adaptation and resilience decision making in the Greater Horn of Africa region.
S/he will be experienced in designing and delivering capacity building relevant to a wide range of actors in the climate science, meteorology, development and disaster risk reduction (DRR) sectors, and will have excellent participatory facilitation skills. An understanding of resilience frameworks, DRR, Climate Change Adaptation, and community-based development approaches will be an advantage.
The incumbent will be embedded in the ICPAC offices for at least three days a week, will report to the Project Manager, and work closely with a consortium of
CARE’s committed to meeting international standards of quality and accountability when responding to emergencies. Responding to humanitarian crises means that CARE staff may potentially exercise significant power over stakeholders, particularly affected communities.
To ensure that CARE earns the trust and respect of those we are serving, we need to be sure that we are being accountable to them. By improving accountability, we also improve the quality and performance of our response in meeting essential needs and so achieve greater impact.
The overall objective of the position is to ensure CARE’s accountability system in its Refugee Assistance Program (RAP) is working as required, all the stakeholders are aware of it and the system is in use.
The position will be key in supporting CARE RAP at the camp level in its efforts to strengthen quality and accountability. In addition as a member of Program Quality & Learning Unit (PQLU), participate in Monitoring and Evaluation of the Refugee Assistance Program.
