Job summary:CARE Germany is leading a five-year consortium project (CBA-SCALE Southern Africa+) on community-based adaptation to climate change in Southern Africa, funded by the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Coordinator to join our team in Southern Africa. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating the M&E activities of the consortium and ensuring effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation of the project.
Responsibilities:Design and supervise the implementation of a comprehensive M&E plan to track and evaluate project progress and impact, using established indicators and in line with donor policies and guidelines.
Coordinate and collaborate with consortium members and local implementing partners to ensure that M&E data are collected and analysed in a consistent, coherent and effective manner across the consortium.
Support the Consortium Manager in preparing annual reports and other performance evaluations to inform the donor and other stakeholders of project progress and results and facilitate reflection and learning sessions to understand what has worked well and what could be improved.
Ensure that M&E results are integrated into project decision-making and planning processes and support the consortium members in applying lessons learned to improve future project implementation.
Provide technical assistance and support to consortium members in the consistent and coherent design, implementation and evaluation of their activities.
Support the development and dissemination of project results, including the development of presentations, publications and other materials.
Stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in M&E and identify opportunities to improve and innovate the project’s M&E approach.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to M&E (e.g. international development, social research).
At least five years of experience in M&E of development projects. A focus on climate change adaptation is an advantage.
Knowledge of M&E best practices and experience in designing and implementing M&E plans, especially in complex projects. Experience with M&E in consortia projects with different organisations is an advantage.
Hands-on experience in creating data collection tools.
Experience of quantitative and qualitative data analysis and presentation using e.g. Excel, Access, KoBo, Nvivo and advanced data analysis and visualisation packages such as Power Bi. Additional software and technical skills (databases, mobile technology, GIS and statistical packages) are an advantage.
Demonstrated understanding of data protection and confidentiality as
part of data collection and management practices, and ability to respect and maintain confidentiality.
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with experience of coordinating and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment, with a strong focus on coordination across a consortium of different organisations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience of writing reports and presenting findings to a range of stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint and Teams

The position will be based in one of CARE’s country offices in Mozambique, Zambia or Zimbabwe. You will receive a national employment contract and must therefore have already the right to reside and work in one of the three countries. Please confirm this in your cover letter.
