A Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Specialist is sought for an anticipated USAID-funded project to establish high-quality, industry-endorsed training directly connected to employment opportunities in priority sectors in Kenya.

The purpose of the project is to improve the alignment between training at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, and employment opportunities for youth in growing sectors of the economy.

This is a 4-year project expected to start in November 2023.

The position is full-time and based in Kenya.

The Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Specialist will;

  • Shape the USAID Employment Pathways for Youth approach to private sector engagement and partnerships to maximize programmatic impact and sustainability.

  • Identify opportunities for employer partnerships; develop and implement strategies for TVET engagement with the private sector; and build the capacity of TVET institutions to establish effective and sustainable partnerships.

    At minimum, the PSE Specialist shall have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, business or international development from an accredited institution; or commensurate experience as a private sector engagement specialist in Kenya;

  • Experience working in the private sector or a demonstrated understanding of private sector engagement principles and ability to develop a vision for both private sector and education sector alignment to support demand driven technical
    training;

  • Five (5) years of relevant and progressively increasing responsibility developing and maintaining strategic relationships between public and private sector partners and growing those partnerships;

  • Demonstrated success working with senior private sector partners, national ministry, donor partners, and international organization partners;

  • Demonstrated track record of working in teams and fostering partnerships; and

  • Ability to write, communicate, and present fluently in English.

    Additional skills:

  • Progressively responsible experience managing complex donor-funded projects, preferably USAID-funded projects; and

  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory work experience, including direct supervision of technical and/or non-technical (support) staff
