Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Registry Supervisor or Immigration Officer, the Support Clerk:
Performs routine clerical tasks in support of IRCC (immigration/visa) programs including entering baseline information into automated systems, creating electronic and hard copy files, retaining and disposing of files as per departmental instruction, tracking correspondence.
Maintains filing system, uses internal systems and accesses departmental websites to search or track information.
Utilizes office equipment such as computers to enter or access information, photocopier to reproduce information, scanners and fax machines to transmit or receive documentation, telephone, etc.
Prepares various documents and/or exact copies from written or verbal instructions, utilizing automated systems.
Provides assistance and guidance to colleagues and shows new employees how to perform duties.
Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
Education:
University degree or diploma
Language:
Proficiency in English - comprehension, oral and written.
Experience:
Recent experience of at least 6 months working in a general office environment
Recent Experience in dealing with the public and customer/client service
Demonstrated experience working on a PC in a networked environment
*Recent as defined as the last 24 months
Knowledge:
General knowledge of Canadian immigration policies and procedures.

Asset Qualifications:Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:
A working knowledge of French
Recent* work experience of at least six (6) months with an international organization which could include a Canadian Company/Organization, an international organization in Kenya or an Embassy, High Commission or Consulate General.
Knowledge of local laws and customs.
Recent as defined as the last 24 months
If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Work in a pressured environment
Some overtime required (on weekdays and/or during weekends if job demands)
Our working hours are Mondays to Thursdays (07:30 to 16:00 = 8hrs & Fridays (07:30 – 13:00 = 5.5hrs)
Condition(s) of Employment:
Ability to obtain and retain the required Reliability Status (security check).
Kenyan citizenship, holder of a valid Kenyan work permit or otherwise legally able to work at the High
Commission (please note that the The High Commission of Canada in Nairobi does not sponsor
work authorizations directly or indirectly).
Area of selection:
