Our client is a leading player in the African Entrepreneurship growth space and aims to create access to skills, markets and finance for African Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to drive job creation and enterprise development.
To achieve their mission, they provide a technology-supported platform called the African Partner Pool (APP) which provides direct linkage between large multinational companies in Kenya and SMEs to transact business together.
Through the APP:
Tenders and procurement bids are advertised and fully-managed.
SMEs can discover and laterally do business with each other.
Capacity building to SMEs through training, financial services and online events through its partners.
They have branches in Ghana, Senegal and Kenya and has ambitions to grow further in Africa.
As part of rapid brand growth strategy, they intend to hire energetic, focused and results driven professionals for a short term engagement.
Business Development Officer
The role
IIA-Kenya seeks to hire an ambitious Business Development Officer (BDO) to join a vibrant and dynamic team that oversees the marketing of the APP platform.
The BDO will have the unique opportunity to work towards executing the marketing strategy of the APP, get exposed to a higher level of responsibilities and taking ownership of assignment.
Duties
Reporting to the African Partner Pool Manager the BDO will, Assist with outreach and business development duties as assigned, which will include:
Researching and identifying potential new sales leads.
Reaching out to clients (suppliers and buyers) to develop new opportunities and maintain fruitful relationships.
Contacting potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport and set up meetings
Pitching IIA’s services to existing and potential clients.
Maintaining fruitful relationships with existing clients.
Respond to user requests for service
Identify, report APP platform issues to the platform
manager, monitor and test the resolutions
Consult with APP Members (suppliers and buyers), perform research and evaluate solutions to assist in improvement of APP’s performance
Provide backup, basic technical support roles in the office.
Skills and Qualifications
At least one year experience in a high paced sales and marketing environment;
Excellent SME market exposure with a ready to reach database for marketing purposes;
Graduate in Bachelor of Commerce or Computer Science, Information Systems Managements, or related business fields;
Proactive, energetic and self-driven;
Excellent presentation skills; both verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills;
High degree of discretion and a trustworthiness;
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Contract Period: This position is for a period of 7 months starting from date of appointment with the possibility of extension.
