Our client, a leading ground handling company with operations in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi) and Moi International Airport (Mombasa) is seeking to recruit the following position:

Business Development Manager – Airfreight and Ground Handling Services

The Business Development Manager role is to develop and increase business.

The Successful candidate will be responsible for developing business strategies, establishing and maintaining relationships with customers, developing new business portfolios, connecting with key business executives and stakeholders.

The role requires excellent commercial knowledge in a highly competitive environment, preferably in airfreight and ground handling services.

It demands a high degree of self-motivation, customer focus, excellent interpersonal skills and a strong entrepreneurial spirit in order to recognize and develop new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing annual business strategies
  • Developing revenue targets
  • Developing work plans and strategies to meet revenue targets
  • Identify, develop and implements additional business to increase revenue streams
  • Preparing revenue performance reports
  • Develop, plan and implement marketing campaigns and sales initiatives.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and business opportunities
  • Preparation of business proposals based on clients terms of reference
  • Reviewing of services pricing in liaison with Finance department
  • Ensure an effective close working relationship with the airlines, airfreight companies, business executives, hospitality industry and airport authorities
  • Accountable for maintaining an effective customer services system providing solutions to customer complaints both at corporate and individual levels, including interventions with customers to resolve escalated issues.
  • Accountable for contract negotiations and contract renewal targets
  • Comprehensive documentation and maintenance of contracts / agreements for all customers, and ensure they are communicated to all relevant parties.
  • Accountable for delivery of additional business and contract renewal targets New Business
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with both internal and external customers

    Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of commerce or business studies degree from a recognized university.
  • 7 + years experience in business development, with a proven track record in business development
  • Demonstrated excellent commercial knowledge gained in a highly competitive industry
  • Experience in marketing
  • Must demonstrate competency in developing business strategies
  • Experience in and commercial knowledge of the airfreight industry is an added advantage
  • Well-developed communication, persuasiveness, influencing and presentation skills
  • Fluency in English
