About the roleIn this role as a Hardware Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for hardware and firmware development, product testing, and fault analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics engineering and a proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex hardware projects.
As the Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership, manage the team's day-to-day operations, and drive the team towards excellence in hardware design and development.
Duties and Responsibilities: Team Leadership and Management:Lead, mentored, and inspire a team of hardware engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and support professional development plans for team members.
Manage resource allocation, workload distribution, and project assignments to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
Hardware Development:
Oversee the design, development, and testing of cutting-edge hardware products.
Provide technical guidance and expertise in electronics engineering, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, and product management, to drive seamless integration of hardware components.
Project Management:
Plan, execute, and monitor hardware and firmware development projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Identify project risks and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
Provide regular project status updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Innovation and Research:
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in electronics engineering and hardware technologies.
Drive innovation within the team and propose new product ideas and enhancements.
Conduct research and feasibility studies to assess the viability of new
hardware concepts.
Quality Assurance:
Implement rigorous testing procedures to ensure hardware products meet quality and reliability standards.
Manage the testing and hardware/firmware teams to resolve hardware-related issues.
Vendor Management:
Manage vendors and consultants to deliver specialized packages of work to facilitate a fast pace of project delivery.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience of 8+ years in electronics engineering with a focus on hardware design and development.
Demonstrated experience of 5+ years in a leadership or management role, overseeing hardware engineering teams.
In-depth knowledge of hardware design principles, PCB layout, analogue and digital circuitry, and embedded systems.
Experience with mass production, including EVT, PVT, and DVT production processes.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in using relevant electronics design tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence, or similar).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
