About the roleBurn is looking for a Data Quality Assurance and Quality Control officer who will be the reviewer and validator function responsible for ensuring the accuracy of information being shared with internal and external customers, such as survey data, carbon projects reports et al.
The primary focus will be to work with data from a variety of markets and with various teams to ensure the highest standard of data analysis and reports is maintained following laid down sops and methodologies. They will also focus on streamlining the flow of information and data within the organization.
Job responsibilities will include performing information and data reviews and internal audits on records, creating and maintaining work processes, and collaborating with other team members towards performance and process improvement to rectify issues and determine gaps in service.
They also help ensure data operations comply with the organization's standards, as well as any applicable methodologies, especially within the Carbon environment, and ensure the organization meets goals for productivity, quality of service, and overall effectiveness.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop SOPs and checklists for maintaining the highest quality of output from data and related units
Review and audit raw survey, analytical data, and documentation necessary to complete carbon projects in time both quantitatively and qualitatively
Ensure data and documentation complies with laid down SOPs and methodologies
Collaborate and liaise closely and regularly with the relevant team members across the critical departments including but not limited to market intelligence, carbon, and commercial.
Manage routine corrections of erroneous output
Creating comprehensive monthly reports on the Pareto of issues, including root causes, examples, trends, and options for solutions.
Project management and contribution to the creation of dashboards and ownership
of oversight on the key issues and trends.
Skills and Experience
Individuals will need excellent technical abilities to carry out audit-like work in a data-heavy environment.
Relevant technical data handling skills or knowledge including programming languages (SQL/R/python), spreadsheet applications e.g., Ms. Excel /programs, and strong data & processes audit background to ensure compliance.
Meticulous and a keen eye for detail e.g., spotting an error, outlier, or inconsistent formula in a data output with hundreds of rows & tens of columns.
Required soft skills include people and teamwork skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
The role-holder is expected to have strong analytical abilities to evaluate the information for effectiveness and accuracy and create ways to improve an organization's data and information systems.
This specialist should also have effective communication skills to interact with team members or customers, as well as provide training as needed to colleagues.
Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in data & processes audit
Franco-Anglo phone speaker would be an added advantage
Advanced data operations & data handling/analysis using Ms. Excel and SQL
Early stages in data handling and wrangling using R or Python (Pandas, Matplotlib)
Data audit experience
