The key role of the accountant is to ensure the accuracy of the company financial accounting, robustness of the balance sheet and a continued strong internal financial control environment.
Leading and developing a significant team to deliver the month end close process and influencing and shaping the function to ensure it meets current and future business needs and requirements.
Buildnet Accountant Jobs in Uganda
Responsibilities;
Controls
Develop and maintain a system of internal control to safeguard the assets of the organisation.
Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors, ensuring all audit and compliance issues are met and resolved.
Oversee the maintenance of inventory of all fixed assets. Ensuring an updated asset register is in place.
Reporting
Produce monthly reports and reconciliations, financial statements and cash flow projections for use by Management and Board.
Prepare annual budgets, work plans and group quarterly forecasts and analysis. Reporting of month-end results as per the required company reporting system and procedures.
Tax & compliance
Oversee tax planning and manage compliance with tax laws and all tax & levies aspects including WHT, Local Service tax, VAT and PAYE.
Prepare monthly and annual taxation computations and returns.
Cash flow management
Management of account receivables and account payables, ensuring a proper balance that supports decision making and sustains business operations of Buildnet.
Investment & Strategy
Maintain a good balance between equity and debt and prudently advise management and the Board on the debt/equity ratio of the entity required to maintain financial health of the business.
Support the company in strategic development by determining financial metrics for assessing a firm’s performance.
Human Resource
Provide leadership and manage the department staff in meeting the Department deliverables. The
Head Finance should ensure adequate staff training, empowerment and succession planning in liaison with the Human Resource Department.
Any other duties in line with the job role This may include among others being member on Management committees.
Requirements
The Job holder MUST be qualified Accountant (CPA, ACCA or CIMA etc) with significant experience of working in an accounting function. Minimum of 7 years experience in an accounting function is required.
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or similar field is desirable.
Ability to demonstrate the commercial value of Finance and Accounting interventions and to create an environment for continuous improvement.
Proven team leadership and development capability, with exceptional communication skills and the personal integrity/gravitas required to successfully influence change at the highest levels.
Strong arithmetic skills and knowledge of key accounting software such as quick books, Pastel and ERP.
Track record of delivery and hitting deadlines coupled with strong attention to detail and the proven ability to digest/interpret accounting complexity and provide sound/practical accounting judgment.
Ability to write reports and business proposals is key for the role.
