Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide analysis and advice on Ugandan politics and current affairs, as well as supporting incoming and outward visits to Uganda. In addition, you will need to build and maintain strong networks with government, parliament, academia, the media and civil society.
This is an important role, working closely with Head of the Political team and the High Commissioner.
The ideal candidate is likely to have worked in a political field – perhaps in government, parliament, civil society or a diplomatic mission with strong contacts in these areas, and have significant analysis and reporting experience.
Requirements
Minimum of three years relevant work experience;
Keen knowledge and understanding of the current and past Uganda political and electoral systems
High level of people skills – leadership, networking, management,
organising.
Sound project and financial management knowledge, skills and experience.
Strong problem solving skills, including close attention to detail and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills – written, oral, one-to-one, group, formal presentations – ability to vary style, pace and presentation to suit the audience.
A university degree in political studies, international relations, social sciences or a related field;
Experience of project management, including budget management;
Knowledge of Uganda’s political, economic and social environments, including key institutions and persons in Government, Parliament, Academia, Media and civil society;
Experience in report writing, note taking and event planning.
