Main purpose of job:The successful candidate will work within the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Counter Terrorism and Extremism Network. S/he will be responsible for providing programme support and contribute to the day-to-day administrative and financial management of the FCDO’s counter terrorism programmes in Kenya. This role provides an opportunity to support a high profile foreign policy priority by helping tackle terrorism in line with international human rights standards.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day administrative, logistical and financial management of a number of counter-terrorism programmes, liaising with a wide range of colleagues and subject matter experts across the security and justice sector within the British High Commission in Nairobi, UK Government Departments and the Kenyan security and justice sector.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Monitor programme finances in line with FCDO procurement and expenditure guidelines as well as maintenance of accurate budgeting and forecasting, processing and receipting invoices / cash expenses, etc
Organise training courses and workshops: booking venues, liaising with course participants to arrange attendance and travel, preparing course materials, etc.
Organise inbound and outbound stakeholder visits: preparing agendas, arranging travel, booking hotels, payment of invoices etc
Ensure the timely review and update of project documentation, in consultation with the wider programme team and Subject Matter
Experts (including asset registers, risk logs, stakeholder maps, Activity Based Budgets, etc.)
Maintenance of the programme delivery calender and contacts database
In consultation with Programme Managers and Subject Matter Experts, provide regular progress and expenditure reports to the Programme Team in London
Performing ad-hoc duties (e.g corporate duties relevant to the role).
In consultation with Programme Managers, reviewing scheduled programme activity at regular intervals and responding flexibly to changing priorities and the operating environment, taking advantage of new opportunities for engagement.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
An undergraduate degree;
Experience of programme budget management including monitoring spend and processing invoices;
Ability to plan ahead and prioritise effectively;
Excellent IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams;
A minimum of 4 years previous experience in project management in East Africa;
Ability to produce clear and accurate work with attention to detail;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment;
Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Previous experience working in the security/justice sector.
