British Council Programme Manager Jobs in Kenya
The Programme Manager Arts, Kenya and East Africa, manages the programmatic operations of the British Council’s East Africa Arts programme.
Based in Kenya and with key responsibilities across the East Africa cluster, the Programme Manager Arts will increase the efficiency and impact of the British Council’s East Africa Arts programme through effective team, financial and operational management, and through exploring innovative ways for the programme to grow.
Main Accountabilities
Operational Management
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa to plan, forecast, monitor, comment, and evaluate the East Africa Arts programme’s finances and general operations.
Oversee activity timeline for Kenya and East Africa Arts programme and ensure programmes are on track.
Risk assess East Africa Arts programmes as and when needed, report and escalate any risk inherent in programme delivery to Head of Arts.
Work with Head of Arts to be accountable for financial targets and risk management for the Kenya and East Africa Arts Programme.
Contribute content, information and insight to the East Africa Arts governance structures, e.g. board meetings, advisory and steering groups.
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa to ensure the annual arts plan is implemented in line with regional/country strategy.
Deputise Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa as assigned.
Business Development, Partnership and
Relationship Management
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa and Business Manager Arts SSA to develop new partnerships that extend the impact of our East Africa Arts programme, and/or provide funding for it.
Create relationships with key business players in the Kenyan and East African creative sector.
Oversee grant contract creation, and contractual compliancy across the East Africa cluster.
Staff Leadership
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa to oversee general management and work flow of East Africa Arts managers.
Line manage Arts Manager Kenya and Arts
Officer Kenya.
Communications:
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa and East Africa Arts managers and consultants to oversee and co-ordinate the creation and distribution of digital creative content across the East Africa cluster.
When required, support the cluster, region and international arts programmes to extend impact across our target audiences and to strengthen British Council as the key organisation for international collaboration between East Africa and UK.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Be responsible for gathering qualitative and quantitative data from East Africa Arts managers in order to present them to the British Council’s internal and external evaluators in a timely and efficient way.
Work with Head of Arts Kenya and East Africa to measure the impact of the East Africa Arts programme using British Council Results and Evidence frameworks.
Role Requirements
Written and Spoken English at Proficiency Level
Proven programme management of ambitious cultural or social projects with a range of partner organisations.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines
Qualifications
Degree or HE qualification in relevant cultural or humanities or programme management field.
At least five years’ recent professional experience at a senior level in a creative or social programme management role
