About the JobThe British Council is currently looking to recruit English teachers for our centre in Addis Ababa. The Office in Ethiopia has young, dynamic staff from many backgrounds and who are fun to work with.

Role Purpose and accountabilities The Teacher of English at the British Council will be part of the teaching Centre. The role will support British Council’s global
English strategy through the implementation and management of activity plans in support of Ethiopia Teaching Centre strategy to meet income and impact targets and enhance the British Council’s reputation in Ethiopia for English language teaching expertise.
The Teacher of English will promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English and support the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission.
The post holder will support British Council’s global English strategy by:
Delivering teaching to the highest standards of English Language Teaching
Enhancing the British Council’s reputation as a world authority in English Language Teaching
Continuing to pursue professional development and sharing of best practices
Main Opportunities/ Challenges for this role
Ensuring teaching meets learner needs and expectations
Ensuring teaching meets quality standards and organisational expectations
Maintaining good relationships with customers and colleagues
Supporting the teaching centre’s activities and British Council plans
Job Requirements
What We Are Looking for: You must have the following to be considered:
Right to live and work in Ethiopia
Appropriate police check required
High proficiency in English i.e. full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module\
Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL
Undergraduate / University degree
Two years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience / other recognized qualification
Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and well-being of children
Effective communication and engagement with children and their parents/guardians
