Job PurposeThe Government Liaison Officer will serve as a direct contact – under supervision of the GM/CEO – to all relevant government bodies with regards to legal and regulatory requirements for the company operations. Manage and maintain relations between the company and all government regulatory bodies (ZEMA & ERB) mainly to streamline operations, seek guidance, resolve issues, improve communications, and generally ensure that the relationship is as beneficial as possible. .
Summary of Key Responsibilities
• Build and maintain relationships with key technical managers and decision-makers in different ministries and local authorities (ZEMA, ZESCO, ERB & ZWMA)
• Ensure that company polices are in compliant with all related government registration
• Lead Senior Managers to meetings with government officials and facilitate dialogue
• Working closely with the Legal team, take part in the development and submission of progress reports and applications to relevant ministries, including Service Contracts, Agreement, Sub-Agreements other statutory periodic reports.
• Monitor, coordinate, and communicate the strategic objectives of the business
• Develop and foster effective relationships with the community, stakeholders, and other entities
• Collect, analyze, and utilize data and feedback to identify opportunities to improve the relationship between the business and the other relevant institutions
• Work with authorities to secure all required authorizations and permissions to facilitate smooth implementation of Company operations
• In close cooperation with Head of Legal Services, identify and share new policies and procedures to create awareness of requirements among senior staff and support compliance.
• Proactively solve conflicts and address issues that could occur between
the business and the other entity
• Promptly respond to incidents and other events as necessary
• Manage company reputation to the Government and Corporate World

Qualifications and Experience
• Degree /Advanced Diploma in International Relations /PR, Business, Communications or Engineering
• At least a minimum of 4 – 5 years of experience in same capacity of managing relations with Government Ministries and its agencies at senor level
• Must have worked as Liaison Officer / Government Relations Officer or related
• Minimum of 2 years proven experience in Managing Relations with Government Bodies like ZEMA, ZWMA, ZESCO, ERB & Local Councils
• Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment
• Good knowledge and understanding of government settings/functions
• Must be a member of a relevant and well established professional body
