Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) is an international non-governmental organization that specializes in the design and construction of pedestrian trailbridges.
The Deputy Program Manager will be responsible for developing and managing partnerships, particularly with the national government, large bilateral donors and multilateral development banks. The Deputy will also contribute to strategic planning and program management. The Deputy will report directly to the Uganda Senior Program Manager, with frequent interaction with US headquarters leadership.
Responsibilities
Advocacy & Partnerships
Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships with government officials, large bilateral donors and multilateral development banks (e.g. African Development Bank, World Bank), and other key stakeholders, in order to strengthen and expand B2P’s mission in Uganda.
Explore global and local funding opportunities and support proposal development in partnership with the global team
Plan and lead capacity development activities for partners
Manage any marketing and public relations activities for B2P directly or in conjunction with partners
Lead reporting and compliance activities according to partnership agreements
Manage international corporate partner in-country visits and/or remote engagements
Be the face of B2P-Uganda and present the program to external parties including government, donors, vendors, and other strategic partners
Strategic Leadership
Lead and manage the design and implementation of strategic advocacy and partnership development plans
Identify and profile potential new partners
Identify and manage risks and opportunities regarding existing and potential partners
Support senior managers in the preparation of MOUs and strategic agreements in order to promote the mission and strategy of B2P
Ensure B2P is well positioned for new donor engagements
Research and monitor changes in the policy landscape which could impact B2P
Program Management
Assist the Senior
Program Manager with activities such as the following:
Monitor and manage program compliance with local regulations
Approve financial reports and funds requests
Develop and monitor program plans and budgets
Monitor security risks for team activities
Ensure proper use of systems as well as data quality and security to enable reporting and analysis
Foster a B2P-Uganda team culture which supports the health and performance of a growing team
Lead, manage, and develop a strong program team to achieve set objectives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Communications, International Affairs, Political Science, or relevant field.
At least 3 years of prior experience in senior management, particularly for an NGO or in the infrastructure/transport sector
At least 5 years of prior experience in partnership development and advocacy, especially with Ugandan/East African national level government officials and major international donors, particularly World Bank & African Development Bank
Extensive track record of raising funds from government and/or international agencies (bilateral/multilateral)
Significant team management background
Experience in overseeing donor compliance activities
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
