BRAC Uganda Health ProgramThe health Program in Uganda began in 2008 to ensure that people living in poverty can access quality, affordable health services. The goal of the BRAC health program is to improve maternal health and reduce under-5 child morbidity and mortality.
BRAC Uganda through its health program will be implementing a USAID funded Health Systems Strengthening Activity in 60 districts of Uganda.
The purpose of the Uganda Health Systems Strengthening (UHSS) activity is to strengthen Uganda’s health system through technical assistance that will improve leadership era accountability for results in public and private health sectors at national, sub-national, and community levels; implement innovative interventions that increase efficient use, governance, and management of key health system resources including human resources for health, finance, equipment I infrastructure; and strengthen state and no state community health systems that are critical for improved quality of health services.
Job Title: Deputy Program Manager
Position: 01
Location: Country Office.
Core Roles and Responsibilities Take lead in strengthening and maintaining good government relations at the national level and sub- national levels, in doing so he/she will regularly update the line ministries and district departments on the progress oi BRAC's health program.
Take lead on one of BRAC's health projects, and provide technical support to other project leads.
Engage in strategic level support in collaboration with other programs. Strengthen and maintain goveriirrrent relations at the national level.
Participate in building strong sustainable synergies between different BRAC programs in Uganda.
Support the program manager and take charge in his absence and also provide technical support to the field teams across all health program projects
Participate in proposal development ptocessirs in collaboration with the program manager. fundraising team, BRAC International, BRAC Affiliates. whenever necessary. HelShe may be required to work as part of diverse teams in consortia.
Provide technical support to the health program projects and also provide technical and administration support to the field teams
Safeguarding Roles.
a. Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on sate guarding for establishing a safe working environment
b. Practice promote and endorse the issues of safe guarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
c. Follow the safe guarding reporting procedure tn case any reportable incident takes place. encourage others to do so.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in health related discipline. Having a Master's degree in Public Health is an added advantage.
5 years relevant experience in program. Experience in community based programs will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of Uganda's governance systems, Ministry of health structures and district local governance systems.
Should be able to travel widely throughout Uganda and be able to live in basic conditions with limited amenities.
Should be able to flexibly withstand and work tinder strict deadlines.
Excellent spoken and written English. Good proficiency with MS. Office suite.
Report writing and basic quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
