Duty StationKampala, Uganda
Job PurposeThis role manages employee relations, ensures compliance with regulations, manages budgets, assesses staffing needs, hires new employees, oversees ERP systems, designs training development programs, and manages compensation plans.
The role also involves administration and coordination of daily operational support functions, and to streamline and improve business efficiency.
Essential qualification requirements The ideal candidate for this vacancy should have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology or Social Work & Social Administration or equivalent.
A master’s degree or any relevant additional postgraduate qualifications and certifications are an added advantage.
At least 6 years work experience as head of human resources department from a reputable organization, a private or public company. In-depth knowledge of accounting software, corporate principals, and financial analysis.
Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems and other financial planning software.
Job Specifications
This is a senior role which requires extensive leadership and managerial experience, with in-depth experience of the BSU business and HR strategies.
The key deliverables of this role are as follows;
Provide strategic direction to management on all human resources and administration matters.
Support the General Secretary in
coordination of management action plans/activities by setting strategic direction, ensuring effective management according to BSU principles, objectives and values.
Responsible for developing appropriate human resource and organization policies, procedures and provide guidance in their implementation.
Provide leadership and direction in resourcing, talent management, training & staff development and staff engagement strategies etc.
Steer and monitor BSU salary/benefits, reward systems, and participate in BSU annual work plans and budgets.
Champion and facilitate a robust performance management system for staff. Good knowledge and practice of the balance score card system.
Develop systems that facilitate the delivery of efficient and effective office and administrative services country wide in all BSU offices.
The job holder should be self-driven, passionate, accountable with work experience in HRIS, ERP systems, and HR analytics. Good knowledge and interpretation of local tax and labour laws.
Must dependable, with a high level of integrity and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and improve employee performance.
