The Speech Therapist will provide support services to the ENT clinic in fulfilling the speech therapy functions of the Beit CURE Hospital.
He/She will support all speech therapy activities of the hospital, evaluate, coordinate and administer quality speech therapeutic techniques to patients with speech & language disorders.
Administer therapeutic techniques also to patients with hearing and oral motor disorders.
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Speech Therapist will work in collaboration with other project staff in ensuring efficiency and smooth flow of work. .
Key Responsibilities:
Screen for possible hearing, swallowing and communication difficulties
Assess formally or informally the communication and swallowing challenge which may include evaluation, diagnosis and counseling.
Intervene the aforementioned through promotion, collaboration, prevention, treatment, counselling, management, consultation, (re)habilitation and education.
Measure the clinical outcomes for each patient and the referral and/or consultation with other needed professionals
Maintain logbooks or records of activities and tasks undertaken.
Respond to requests for information and access relevant files.
Provide skills in home strategies to parents, guardians, caregivers of children with isolated speech delay/communication delay.
Training of nurses/clinical officers as speech therapy assistants.
Prepare and submit monthly reports to the supervisors.
Perform any other support duties as will be required.

Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Speech-, language- therapy from an accredited University.
Additional qualifications such as Masters of Speech-, language and hearing therapy, teaching certifications or specializations within the different diagnoses will be an added advantage.
Previous work experience in a childcare centre, community health centres, hospital, school or other related institutions will be an added advantage.
A minimum of two (2) years’ work experience is required.
Proficiency in the local language(s) will be an added advantage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Capacity to produce high quality briefs and reports
Good level of proficiency in computers.
Demonstrated ability to train and build capacity of others
Strong interpersonal skills
Fluent in English with good writing and effective presentation skills
