BBC Marketing Manager Vacancies in Kenya
Key Responsibilities:Work closely with and support the Head of Marketing to deliver the annual marketing plan including support for relevant Business Development activity.
Work closely with and support the relevant language Service heads to better understand their audiences and increase audiences to their content.
Develop an excellent understanding of audiences in the relevant markets and use this insight, with colleagues from Communications, to drive coordinated MC&A initiatives in the market to increase consumption and loyalty.
Work closely with and support the Business Development team with new and ongoing partner or content syndication/distribution opportunities across the region. Is their first point of contact in MC&A on proposals submitted to the Business Development Committee (BDC).
Working with Audience Insight colleagues to provide thorough analysis of audiences and marketing campaign performance, gaining the commitment of key business stakeholders to the marketing department as an integral part of the decision-making process and ensuring that maximum value is obtained from the investment in marketing activity.
Owning the marketing relationship with key partners in the region and managing agreed joint consumer marketing activities with partners and BBC World News when necessary, proactively looking for cost efficiencies through using Partner resources and media.
Working with BBC World News marketing colleagues to ensure marketing plans are aligned, appropriately promoted and messaging is correct on all marketing materials.
Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to support BBC World Service digital business objectives.
Bring a sophisticated on-going understanding of the impact of digital marketing on digital audiences, and help set KPI’s for future campaigns.
Foster and support a culture of iterative testing and optimisation of digital marketing activity.
Build strong relationships with your key editorial stakeholders, presenting post campaign results and working with them on their campaign strategy.
Working with the Arabic and Persian language teams to create an effective production strategy on owned media
Work to get the most out of our in house creative teams, producing excellent creative briefs and working together throughout creative development, asset creation and delivery
Work alongside our editorial team and Business Development teams to develop our paid/owned and partner communications. Ensuring brand and audience journey consistency
Person Specification
Experience in and understanding of both B2C and B2B marketing, preferably within the broadcasting industry with experience across TV and/or Radio and digital
Evidence of working with third party ‘Partners’ on joint marketing activity and experience in negotiation of shared funding.
Experienced in managing creative and media agencies/teams across different disciplines and markets as well as globally
Experience of working closely with sales and business development teams
Must be an excellent communicator, with strong presentation skills
Organised, with strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure, often to tight deadlines
Excellent planner with the ability to deliver outstanding project plans
Ability to prioritise and good sense of initiative
Ensuring an efficient and timely response to enquiries, exercising judgement and discretion.

BBC Editor Vacancies in Kenya
Main Duties
To provide strong editorial and managerial leadership for BBC Somali teams in Nairobi and
London
To edit and coordinate the output of other BBC Africa Hub
services as required, and help
disseminate material and expertise to the wider BBC.
To assess and ensure the teams have capacity and skills-set necessary for professional and sustainable production of TV content – teams should have enough resilience to sustain the bulletins.
To maximise the opportunities for effective collaboration, multilingual working and commitment to digital production
Ensuring Risk Assessment forms are adequately completed for deployments to potentially high
risk environments and fully liaising with High Risk and for sign off.
To liaise with the Business Development team ensuring there is effective communication and productive relationships with re-broadcasting partners.
To manage and monitor the budget.
To develop senior talent within the Service capable of taking the editorial lead in the absence of the Editor.
To oversee the continuous development of relevant skillset and technology in the service.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Sound editorial and political judgement.
A full command and up to date knowledge of Somali (first or equivalent).
Fluent in English, both in written and spoken form, to a fully broadcastable level and the ability to communicate effectively on all platforms.
In depth understand of international, regional and local news
Should have an experience of managing a remote team too.
Excellent broadcasting voice and appropriate presentation style to communicate effectively with the listeners.
Significant recent experience as a broadcast or print journalist for the target area, both in originating ideas and material and in editing the work of others.
An extensive knowledge of the media situation in the target area and how it is developing. Ability to anticipate changes in the market and to plan and guide the service’s output accordingly.
Deep understanding of digital technology and the internet and real knowledge of the potential of new technology is essential.
In depth knowledge of the BBC’s distinctive news agenda and a wider interest in the strategy of the BBC as a whole.
Ability to adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups.
Experience of and confidence in managing budgets/resources effectively.
Experience of and willingness to go on reporting trips, overseas postings or undertake special series.
Good knowledge of the output of the BBC World Service and its aims and objectives.
Has the personal characteristics to advocate the BBC Values and behaviours and provide the inspiration for staff commitment around these values.
