Jon Details: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) awarded Baylor-Uganda a grant titled “Improving
Health Security and Building International Health Regulations core capacities in the Republic of Uganda".
Baylor-Uganda is seeking an experienced and qualified professional to fill the position of Project Director for the above mentioned grant.
Project Director — Global Health Security
Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the team providing quality technical, operational, and financial oversight for core activities and direct technical assistance and capacity building support to the teams.
S/he will support both the day—to—day management and implementation of the Global Health Security Agenda and provide support to the Executive Director.
S/he will also support the leadership team in developing strategy, translating the strategy into action plans, engaging with donors, Ministry of Health, partners. collaborators, and leading strategic activities.
S/he will Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure effective organizational management and communication with the national government at all levels and international partners
and agencies. .
Overall Responsibilities:
The Project Director will perform the following roles;
• Provide overall strategic direction, leadership, and management oversight of the project for successful implementation and achievement of the GHSA priorities;
• Manage a diverse team of technical, operational, and management staff. ensuring an organizational structure with specific roles and responsibilities to effectively deliver the GHSA project;
• Oversee project work planning, budgeting, implementation, performance management, and reporting and provide technical assistance to and support national and sub-national teams;
• Develop and monitor implementation of systems/policies/ SOPs to ensure
project compliance with Baylor-Uganda and donor regulations;
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships at sub
• national. national, and international levels for improved prevention., detection, and response to outbreaks;
• Support the Ministry of Health in implementation of the national action plan for health security and implementation of the IH-R Monitoring and Evaluation Framework:
• Coordinate knowledge management for the project, including documentation of implementation successes, lessons learned. and challenges, including reporting to the donor. as well as local and international dissemination.
Required Qualification and Competencies:
• Master’s degree with an advanced degree in epidemiology, Public Health, International Health. or a related field; A Ph.D. qualification is an added advantage;
• Previous experience serving as Project Director or a Senior-Level Management role. and working with! providing technical assistance to national government programs;
• 8+ years‘ experience successfully managing donor
• funded projects, including US government projects
• Demonstrated in—depth understanding of global health security, emergency response operations. and International Health Regulations (II-IR) frameworks;
• Demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational, team-building, presentation skills.
