Banda School Head of History Jobs in Kenya

Banda School Head of History Jobs in Kenya

The Role

Our core aim is to inspire pupils with an
exciting range of historical people and events
from all over the world, including Kenya. The
Banda School has a unique History curriculum that integrates European, International and African history from Years 1 – 8. Any applicant for the role will be expected to continue to develop the curriculum with these core principles in mind.

The History Department believes strongly in
variety when it comes to teaching and learning. Extended writing, note-taking and traditional didactic methods are all valuable approaches. However, these are supplemented by model-building, battle re-enactments, debates, movie making,
project creating and independent research using the students’ personal iPads. Be it the teaching of content or historical skills, the successful applicant will be expected to integrate various teaching methods to inspire a love of learning.

Progress and Assessment

Academic progress at The Banda School is
monitored through various forms of standardised
and non-standardised assessment. The Head of
History is expected to work closely with the
Deputy Head Academic to use their own system
that complements this and allows them to track,
evaluate and report on pupil progress. The Common Entrance examinations represent the final assessments that pupils complete at The Banda School. Despite being very rigorous, the History Department traditionally achieves impressive results (98% A* - C). Applicants will be
expected to maintain this high standard and
reflect on the Department as a whole at the end
of every academic year.

The duties outlined in this job description may be modified by the Head, with your agreement, to reflect changing needs of the School.
