By leveraging cutting edge technology in our flagship products, TransferZero and BFX, AZA is able to significantly lower the cost and increase the speed of business payments to and from frontier markets. TransferZero is our B2B2C product, which provides both wholesale currency purchase and retail settlement via our robust API. BFX is our B2B over-the-counter platform for businesses with wholesale currency needs, especially those paying partners and suppliers.
As the Data Scientist you will be an integral part of a diverse and collaborative, agile team of world-class practitioners, including data scientists, data engineers, software developers.

Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our customers interact with our core/business products
Partner with Product and Engineering teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities
Inform, influence, support, and execute our product decisions and product launches.
The Data Analytics role has work across the following four areas:
Data Infrastructure
Authoring pipelines via SQL and python based ETL framework
Building key data sets to empower operational and exploratory analysis
Automating analyses
Product Operations
Setting goals
Designing and evaluating experiments monitoring key product metrics, understanding root causes of changes in metrics.
Requirements
What we’re looking for
An advanced degree (PhD preferred) in a quantitative field like computer science, engineering or statistics related, or equivalent practical experience of developing and implementing Machine learning applications; you
will also be adept at managing complex operations and development projects, preferably in an analytics context.
Deep understanding of probability, statistics, machine learning theory and practical applications; you will be fluent with various machine learning and data mining algorithms (e.g. logistic regression, random forest, neural networks) for prediction and recommendation.
Programming skills in suitable software (e.g. R, Python, SAS, Clojure) with an understanding of distributed file systems, scalable data stores, distributed computing and related technologies (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, AWS).
Able to work with a wide range of stakeholders and communicate technical information clearly to specialists and non-specialists alike; you will be willing to experiment, learn and adapt in an agile context.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience doing quantitative analysis.
BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics or other technical field. Advanced degrees preferred.
Fluency in SQL or other programming languages. Some development experience in at least one scripting language (Python, R)
Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
The ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner
Basic understanding of statistical analysis.
