Job Title: Hygiene and Sanitation Officer

Duty Station: Addis Ababa,

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

Job summary

Monitor that all hygiene and sanitation activities are conducted using an approved procedure and relevant forms. Write hygiene and sanitation procedures and relevant forms where needed.

Prepare training materials and conduct training to workers engaged in hygiene and sanitation activities. Ensure that all hygiene and sanitation activities are done according to the standards of ISO 22000 : food safety management system.

Main Responsibilities

Participate in department annual planning and work towards its implementation.

Participate and assist new projects in terms of hygiene and sanitation.

Ensure implementation of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22000:2005 and its sustainability.

Handle hygiene and sanitation related matters with regulatory authorities.

Ensure that all hygiene and sanitation activities are done

according to a written procedure and using relevant forms.

Ensure that all processes requiring controlled hygiene and sanitation are identified.

Prepare training materials and conduct training to workers handling hygiene and sanitation.

Requesting and following up the procurement of hygiene and sanitation materials and chemicals,

Ensure the availability of sanitation materials and chemicals

Review hygiene and sanitation procedures currently in use.

Write hygiene and sanitation procedures and relevant forms.

Validate hygiene and sanitation activities are meeting intended purposes.

Write analytical test method for wash water /final rinsing water/ for each cleaning procedure.

Monitors and reports the cleaning status of ware houses in both branches including rental ware houses.

Monitors all hygiene and sanitation activities of machinery, tanks, hoses, production areas and ensure the proper documentation of each activity.

Participate in KPI assignment of workers engaged in hygiene and sanitation activities.

Controls the standard of sanitary and cleaning materials and chemicals.

Prepares annual budget of materials and chemicals for hygiene and sanitation use.

Identify PPE items needed by hygiene and sanitation workers.

Be a model In the proper use of PPE and ensure people working with are using the required PPE.

Work with pertinent departments to ensure the effluent from cleaning activities meets the standards of EPA and other government authorities.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience Required

BSc degree in Microbiology, Food Science or related field

Training in ISO 9001:2015 QMS AND ISO 22000 FSMS is a requirement

3 years of experience in relevant work

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to multi-task
