Specification Responsibilities Include: Play a key role in all Product Development and Product Management activities relating to both Individual and Group Scheme products of the Society.
Member of Product Committee (management committee) including the drafting of the monthly report to the Product Committee.
Play the lead role in the Pricing, Product Development and monitoring functions in the product development process of both individual and group scheme products of the Society.
Managing the product pricing function, including establishing robust pricing processes, enhancing existing Prophet models to be appropriate for pricing and the maintenance and improvement of these processes and models.
Play a support role in the market analysis, idea generation and implementation functions in the product development process of both individual and group scheme products of the Society.
Support the Compliance Department to ensure that the Society’s Individual and Group Scheme products remain in line with relevant and changing regulations and legislation.
Providing input into the decisions around ad-hoc special bonuses.
Providing input into strategic business decisions and writing of recommendations to the Executive Committee.
Managing
relationships with actuarial consultants.
Reviewing and providing guidance on work items of staff.
Mentoring and assisting with development of staff.
Providing input and support to other departments (Claims, Policy services, Complaints, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Valuations).
Requirements
Qualifications:
A relevant degree, eg Actuarial Science, Mathematical Statistics.
Associate Actuary or Qualified Actuary and member of a relevant actuarial body (eg FASSA / AMASSA, FIA / FFA.
Experience:
At least 10 years relevant work experience in the financial services industry.
Experience in a life insurance product environment.
Previous management experience is preferred.
Knowledge of actuarial guidance, the regulatory environment and the commercial landscape of life and funeral insurers.
Actuarial modelling techniques; Prophet or similar; VBA, SQL or Qlikview will be advantageous.
