Austrian Red Cross (AutRC) is offering a job opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Country Representative (CoRep) based in Kampala. The purpose of the CoRep is to oversee general management of programmes and emergency response operations in Uganda.

The CoRep will ensure projects are delivered to a high technical standard in line with AutRC, donor, and international best practices. The CoRep is responsible for strong coordination with the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) and Movement Partners active in the country.

Main responsibillities:

Represent AutRC towards URCS senior management, ICRC, IFRC and other Movement Partners, as well as external stakeholders

Manage projects to support refugees and host communities in various parts of Uganda

Coordinate project management and communication of other AutRC supported projects

Together with URCS lead on the development of programmes based on strategic priorities and the needs in country

Identify strategic program initiatives and provide leadership in formulating proposals and budgets

Ensure financial supervision, quality control and monitoring of AutRC supported programs in Uganda, and provide regular progress reports to the AutRC HQ

Introduce innovation and best practices to enhance program and operational performance

Lead and manage the AutRC Delegation to Uganda including all administrative issues and ensure a

proper security set-up

Qualifications:

At least five years international humanitarian and/or development experience (NGO, IO or Charity) at programme management level including experience in a RC/RC National Society, IFRC or ICRC

Degree or diploma in development studies, project management or other relevant field

Excellent project and finance management skills (including budgeting and budget control)

Work experience in the Eastern Africa region is an asset

Excellent English skills, German and/or French would be an asset

Teamplayer and cultural sensitive personality

Strong experience in people management, managing and supporting staff

Able to work under pressure and lead a multicultural team in complex and demanding environments

Strongly motivated by humanitarian and development work, and high sensitivity to diversity
