Association for Aid and Relief Project Officer Jobs in Uganda
The Project Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator and is responsible to oversee the project implementation and monitor the activities carried out in Kyangwali refugee settlement.
The person will be based in Hoima office, supervising field activities carried out in Kyangwali, providing guidance to field staff, and reporting to supervisors.
The person may occasionally have business trips to Kampala.
Scope of work for Project Officer
Supervise and provide guidance to subordinates and other field staff to implement project activities smoothly
Assist in monitoring daily expenditure to ensure project budgets are spent within acceptable limits and timelines
Coordinate with targeted schools, partner organizations and local authorities to carry out relief activities
Monitor progresses of project activities and report to supervisors on a regular basis
Collect and share any relevant information through attending coordination meetings and consultative meetings to represent AAR Japan
Coordinate and supervise locally-hired contractors and temporary assistant staff for the project in lieu of Programme Coordinator
Provide assistance to designing projects and administering project evaluation aligned with the logical framework of the project
Perform any other duties if requested by supervisors
Experience required
More than 3 years of experience in the field of Project Management/Coordination in NGO sector
More than 5 years of experience in emergency relief activities in aid organizations
Experience in implementing projects related to education, especially education in emergency
Experience in facilitation for workshops and/or seminars
Experience in promoting girls’ education (preferred)
Qualifications required
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
Ugandan citizen, residing
in Uganda and able to station in Hoima/Kikuube
Excellent PC literacy including word processing (MS Word) and spreadsheets (MS Excel)
Strong coordination and negotiation skills with stakeholders and problem-solving skills
Excellent at working as a part of the team, especially reporting to supervisor in a timely manner
High integrity, self-driven, able to work under challenging circumstances, and able to complete assignments with tight deadlines under minimal supervision.
Solid drafting/reporting skills
Culturally sensitive and high level of diplomacy
Respect punctuality
Languages
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Knowledge of Swahili, French or other local languages widely spoken among DRC refugees is an advantage.
