About Asella Flower Farm PLC

Floral Chain Group’s first flower farm in Ethiopia. Floral Chain is a group of cross-disciplined horticulture companies based in Ecuador. With proprietary Romance varieties, they are one of the leading suppliers of Hypericum in both quality and quantity.

Asella Flower Farm PLC is located in Wolliso with 16.4 hectares planted and a total land size of 22.5 hectares. The job posting of Field Supervisor will be at our Ethiopian farm in Wolliso, Obi Koji area.

Tasks and work description

Work and plan according to production program prepared by the farm manager

In case field observations are not in line with the production program, inform and discuss with Assistant Farm Manager and decide on how to continue

Check plant condition, investigate in case of defects and take appropriate measurements

Ensure the field looks clean and organized

Weekly request scouting-, fertilizer- and light reports from Administration Assistant (every Monday). Review and discuss with Assistant Farm Manager in case of alarming information in reports

Ensure plants are well irrigated. Request Irrigation Supervisor for support in case of issues

Check and measure light together with Electricity Team at night according to schedule set by Farm Manager

Inform Post-harvest Supervisor about the quality of harvested stems

Supervise Assistant Field Supervisors

Annually evaluate Assistant Supervisors together with Farm Management

Plan weekly and daily activities according to production program and observed priority using assigned AFF formats

Allocate workers according to daily and weekly planning and observed priority

Ensure all daily cultivation activities are done in time

Control quality of all cultivation activities;

execute several random checks per day for each activity

Make sure jobs are done according to company’s safety standard

Enforce bonus system; realize a steady average daily productivity score, target set by Farm Manager during monthly productivity meeting

Instruct and assist Assistant Field Supervisors to estimate and calculate day-to-day targets for each activity

Check and approve bonus-registration kept by Assistant Field Supervisors

Make sure all reports are submitted on time to Farm Administration

Support Farm Administration on Human Resource related issues. Report to one of your superiors in case someone doesn’t follow the company policy

Pro-actively take measurements to reduce absence and permissions. Motivate your team and issue warning letters if necessary

Report incorrect registration by Assistant Field Supervisors to the Farm Administrator in order to deduct part of behavior bonus

Estimate three weeks production forecast every Wednesday together with the production team and advise on export planning

Execute incidental tasks out of job description when required

Bachelor Degree in Plant Science or Horticulture
