Job DescriptionThe Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia.
The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae).
AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI receives annual budget from Ethiopian Government and the Core Funders of our institute are Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).
And currently we have competitive grants from USAID, US government different institution, European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), UK and other many more.
We would like to hire qualified candidate who is energetic and skillful for the position of Senior Auditor.
Key Duties and responsibilities
Participates in audit planning and brainstorming activities.
Oversee a compliant and accurate auditing process
Ensure efficiency of internal controls
Plan and oversee the auditing process
Perform effective risk and control assessments
Complete audits on time and submit report to senior leadership and MOF and MOH
Present audit findings and find ways to increase compliance and efficiency
Coordinate periodical audits.
Demonstrates the ability to identify risks and clearly articulate their impacts
Develops findings and report documentation
Performs follow-up on reported findings and documents results
Ensures work papers are prepared in accordance with MOF standards
Assists in evaluating the design, function, and actual results from governance & oversight, project & risk management, quality assurance reviews, development/ acquisition,
testing, and delivery
Perform a standard financial and audit activity of AHRI’s annual financial activity to determine its financial status and compliance with policies and procedures,
Perform auditing and accounting tests to determine the reliability, integrity and internal control system,
Examine accounting records such as general ledgers, assets/liability records, income/expenditure accounts, commitments to the government, source documents and payroll journals to verify that transactions have been properly recorded and are in compliance with applicable regulation
Prepare an Audit Report and Management letter with recommendations for corrective action applying professional judgment and interpretation of applicable rules and standards.
Other services that may be required by donors and government.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience:
MA in Accounting and 8 (eight) years of working experience OR
BA in Accounting and 10 (ten) years of working experience
Other Competencies:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Problem solving skills
Planning/organizational skills
Finance Software: Peachtree, QuickBooks and other financial software
Computer Competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
