Job DescriptionThe Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations in collaboration with the Ethiopian government.
AHRI is under the Ministry of Health and the major fund is got from the Ethiopia government. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae).
AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

Key Duties and responsibilities Provide legal advice to all Departments, Directorates and Units within the Institute policy organs that will ensure legality in decision making and compliance with the National legal instruments with an emphasis on Administrative or Labor Law; compliance rule of law, project agreements
Participate and serve as a legal resource person in proceedings before the Disciplinary Board-
Conduct legal assessment and proffer legal opinions on matters raised by staff members or partners sought by the Directorate of general
Draft and review host agreements between the AHRI and donors, partners and project sponsors
Advise on administrative and disciplinary
matters;
Review and assist in drafting contracts and agreements such as contracts of engagement of personnel, consultants and contracts awarded for the procurement of goods or services;
Participate in meetings of relevant legal nature on behalf of the Office of the director general;
Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database.
Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; drafting complaints; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel; generating status reports.
Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress
Support case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses; organizing materials for a case review.
Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; taking courtroom notes.
Perform any other relevant functions as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Qualification & Experiences
BA Degree in Law & 4 years work experience
MA Degree in Law & 2 years work experience
PhD Degree in Law & 1 year work experience
